Alpha Psi Holds
Open House
In the spring, we usually try to
do things of which we have been
deprived during the winter months.
By rushing the seasons a little,
Alpha Psi was able to sponsor an
affair a little out of the ordinary
that of Open House. Their guests
were choice “characters” of the
campus, (and who could call them
selves choice except the men?)
We hear that these lively little

purpose in having Open House for
these particular guests. The first
purpose—and it seems very logical
—was to let the male species see

Now, the second purpose was not
quite as evident as the first, (or
was it?) We hear from reliable
sources that their second purpose
in having Open House was to
“help” the men to be aware of the
abilities and potentialities of ti e
home economists of this school.
Open House proved beneficial to
the girls, however, because some of
them had never really realized that
some men were tall enough to find
dust on the tops of cabinets that
reach nearly to the ceiling; and al
so it was learned that spider webs
behind radiators could cause a fire

THE WEST GEORGIAN
One person said. “It was one of
the nicest activities we have hid on
the camp :s this year." (Could he
have been influenced by the fact
that food was involved?)
Even though the hour from four
until five just flew by—everyone
was grateful to Alpha Psi for this
delightful social function which
proved to be beneficial to so many
people.
Alpha Psi News
Most of the girls who belong to
Alpha Psi are Home Economics
majors who are interested in some
Home Economics vocation. They
have difficulty, however, in decid
ing exactly which field they wish
to enter. Alpha Psi, recognizing the
girls’ need of information planned
a program that would be especially
helpful in choosing a career.
This program, in the form of a
skit, was presented at a regular
meeting. Each girl on the program
chose some profession connected
with Home Economics and learned
all she could about it. Then all the
girls were shown in a jam session,
where they discussed the things
they had learned, thus giving the
club members some definite facts
to base their choice of a career on.
Recently the men have had their
chance to become better acquainted
with the Home Economics De
partment. February 26, Alpha Psi
entertained the men at an Open
House party. They were shown the
entire department and told about
the various projects the girls carry
on there. Perhaps they expected re
freshments cooked by the Food
Class, but they had no unfavorable
comments when they were served
sandwiches, cookies and punch.
French Club News
The last meeting of Le Cercle
Francias was held in the Music
Room, since records formed a
large part of the program. There
were ten members present.
After a discussion of Annual pic
ture money, dues, refreshments,
and the skit for Stunt Night
(which, incidentally, won second
place) the program was turned
over to Jimmy Overton. The opera
“Carmen,” which, although it has
a Spanish setting, was written by
a French composer, was reviewed
by Barbara Bishop. Jimmy follow
ed this review with a little concert
of records taken from the opera.
The meeting was closed after
cookies were served, which inaugu
rated refreshments into the meet
ings of LeCercle Francais.
Keys And Cues
Business Club
The Keys and Cues Business
Club presented a stunt at the an
nual “Stunt Night” held on Febru
ary 28 by Zeta Sigma Pi entitled
“West Georgia’s Atomic Inven
tion.” The stunt won third place.
The people who participated in the
stunt were Margaret Goodson,
Gene Cook, Don Hutcheson, Nettie
Fuller, Mack Ratterree, Evelyn En
trekin, Marvin Cotney, Clinton
Moore, Sara Whittemore, Wendell
Campbell, Frank Camp and Pat
Hearn.
The next meeting of the club
was held on Tuesday, March 11, in
the Typing Room at 6:30, at which
time the business field was discuss
ed.

Important Notice!
Mr. Healy, Director of the Budget for the
Board of Regents, instructs all Junior Colleges
to raise their board to $27.00 per school month or
SBI.OO per quarter, in order to protect the school
against the rapidly advancing food prices. This
is effective for the Spring Quarter. This is a
matter over which the College has no control.
Room rent in all dormitories, except Storms,
will advance SI.OO per month, or $3.00 per school
