Eight students have qualified for candidacy in the
upcoming Student Government elections, according to
Chuck Huffman, Student body president.

Jimmy Aro, sophomore from
Silver Creek; Jim Boyd, sopho
more from Carrollton; and Don
Cadora, junior from Atlanta.
Students win qualified in the
vice presidential contest are: A1

Tommy ' Red” Ivey, sophomore
from Atlanta; and Don Rub

February 13, in the Student Of

discuss campaign procedures
and practices as well as limita
tions placed on the candidates

Changing Georgia Series
Hosts Dr. Kenneth Wagner
Dr. Kenneth G. Wagner, director the Industrial Development branch of the Geor
gia Tech Engineering Experiment Station, will be the next speaker in the Georgia in
Transition series on February 12.
Nineteen Students Elected
To 1963 Chieftain Salutes
Nineteen students have been elected to the Chieftain
Salutes for the 1962-63 academic year.

Win Top Sweetheart Honor
As King, Queen OI Hearts

Melba Buice and Wayne Libby reigned as queen and king of the annual Sweet
heart dance last Saturday night. Melba is a sophomore from Norcross and
Wayne is a senior from Fernandina, Florida.
The king and queen and their
court were chosen by a student
election.
Six other couples, who com
posed the Sweetheart Court
shared the honor of I lie evening
with Melba and Wayne. They
were: Martha Brown and Chuck
Miller, Linda Lee and Ramon
Garcia, Jean Lord and Bill
Grubb, Jance Smith and Phil
Sanders, Care! Mo well and Mike
Neal, Jan Prater and Tuffy John
son.
Melna was presented with a

dages of white carnations. The

Studyeade Planned
For Appearance By
Judith Anderson
Reservations are now being
taken by the Adult Education
Department of West Georgia Col
lege for (he Judith Anderson
performance in At lama Feb. 23.
The Adult Education Depart
ment wilt conduct a studyeade
to the performance, which will
be at the Municipal Auditorium.
The department handles all tick
et and i ravel arrangements.
Miss Anderson will he featured
in famous key scenes from “La
dy Macßeth" and "Medea.” She
appears as part of Atlanta’s Fa
mous Artist Series.
Ticket prices for the perform
ance are $2.50 anti SI.OO. Bus
fare is $2.25.
This will be the latest in the
current series of concert and
play studycades conducted by
Adult Education.
Dr. Wagner wll d'ecurs in

part of a series featuring
changes in various phases of
state life, including population,
agriculture, the political struc
ture. and representat on in the
legislature.

Bob Brown, Editor of the
Douglas County Sentinel, will
speak to the West Georgian staff
at a special meeting Tuesday
night, February J 2, at 6:00 p.m.
in the Student Offices.
Mr. Brown, who assumed the
editorship of the Douglas County
paper during the latter part of
1062, will address the college
newspaper staff on the tech
niques of covering and writing
news stories.
Prior to becoming editor of
the Sentinel, Brown was News
Editor for the Cirroll County
Georg an and the T mas Free-
Pies . Before coming to the West
Georgia area he was a sports
writer for the AnmsCcn Daily
Star in Anniston, Alabama.
