Basketball Team
Begins Practice
By BRUCE JONES
The West Georgia girls’
basketball team started practice
two weeks ago with a total of 15
girls seeking starting positions.
Out of the 15, only four girls,
Mary Popham, Mary Wright,
Linda Graham, and Melinda
Overton, are returning from last
year’s team.
Practice for the girls team
begins each morning at seven
o’clock sharp. “This early
morning practice schedule shows
that the girls have a great deal of
enthusiasm,” said Miss Barbara
Brown, coach of the girls’
basketball team. “But right now
it is a little too early to make
any predictions about the
outcome of this year’s 11 game
season.”
The West Georgia girls’ team
will open their season on Jan. 13
against Berry College on the
opponents home court.
