Students Take Part
In Reading Program
During fall quarter an in
novative new program attracted
considerable interest among the
students. The Voluntary Reading
Program, offered by the Division
of Education, has little similarity
to traditional college courses.
The Education Division en

Eighty students have taken
advantage of the unique program
and many of them play to con

According to Dr. Roy Owen,
reading coordinator, student who
will work on his individually
prescribed program for a
minimum of an hour and a half
per week, composed of three half
hour sessions, can expect to

he works an entire quarter.

time. There is no credit given for
the course, but a student who
rejoices in newly discovered
reading skills thinks he has

the program costs the student no
money.
Although more freshmen have
utilized the facilities in room 118,
Education Center, than any other
class, significant numbers from
all classes, including graduates,
have taken the opportunity to
become better readers.
