Business Master's
Memorandemized
A memorandum stressing the advantages of the master of business
administration (MBA) program for both men and women has been
circuiated to key faculty members by Dr. J. Lincoln DeVillier, head of
the business administration department. Dr. DeVillier feels that
students who are concerned about getting a job once they graduate
might be interested in the MBA degree if they knew more about the
program here. His memorandum is reprinted below:
“Master of Business Ad
ministration (MBA) programs at
most schools of business are
designed to accommodate the
non-busvness major, and the
program at West Georgia College
is no exception. At the moment,
non-business majors make up the
majority of the enrollment of the
MBA program at West Georgia
College.
JOB OPENINGS
“Job opport uni ties are good for
the undergraduate business
major and for persons with the
MBA. regardless of the un
dergraduate degree. With a bit of
(re planning, the non-business
major at West Georgia College
can complete the MBA program
about as quickly as the business
major.
“Non-business majors coming
into the program are required to
take up to 25 quarter hours of
foundation courses. These
courses will prepare the better
than-average student to suc
cessfully cope with the material
(resented in the MBA program.
The foundation courses are as
follows:
Accounting 201, Principles of
Accounting; Marketing 303,
Principles of Marketing;
Economics 206. Introduction to
Micro-Economics; Economics
335, Business and Economic
Statistics, Finance 360, Cor
poration Finance.
“Since most programs at West
Georgia College have a number
of elective hours, the student can
pick up the foundation courses for
the MBA program through the
elective process and may com
plete all 25 hours by the time the
undergraduate degree is
received. For the non-business
major who has not taken any
business or economics courses
before receiving the un
dergraduate degree, about two
quarters will be needed to pick up
the 25 hours of foundation
courses.

state of consciousness the
transcendental state, uniquely
different from waking, sleeping,
or dreaming
“During fifteen minutes of
transcendental meditation the
metabolic rate decreases and the
workload of the heart and
biochemical indications of
anxiety also decrease con
siderably. The nervous system
gains a state of rest deeper than
the deepest sleep, yet the mind is
in a state of restful alertness.
“The benefits of regular
meditation, twice a day, are the
dissolution of accumulated tension
and fatigue, the infusion of in
creased energy and normalized
functioning into the system, and
the continuous growth of the
individual’s ability to engage in
more dvnamic and efficient
activity.”
