that in accordance with recent
regulations from the Department
of HEW, effective July 1, 1972, all
applicants for financial aid ap
plying as independent or married
students come under new
restrictions and guidelines in
qualifying for Federal Aid.

To Return
On August 6
The annual reunion of the 4th
District A & M School Alumni
Association has been set for
Sunday, August 6, on the West
Georgia cmapus.
Registration will begin at 10
a m. the Student Center. During
lunch in the college cafeteria,
new officers of the alumni
association for the coming year
will be elected in the annual
business meeting.
Another activity of the day-long
affair will include the awarding
of the organization’s
Distinguished Alumnus Award. It
is given annually to an alumnus
who has made outstanding civic
and educational contributions,
according to Eugene Hutsell,
director of alumni affairs.
Past recipients include Roy
Richards, president of Southwire
Cos in Carrollton; Dr. W. Steve
Worthy, prominent Carrollton
physician, past president of the
Alumni Association, and past
chairman of the West Georgia
College Foundation, and Dr.
Alton Hallam, an Atlanta op
tometrist and member of the
class of 1921.
“We at West Georgia College
are very much indebted to the A
& M graduates for their in
spination and continued support
even though the A & M school
itself passed out of existence in
1933.” said Hutsell.
“The A & M school was the
predecessor of West Geoigia
College and it was on this strong
foundation that West Georgia
was built, so we look forward to
this opportunity to honor the
graduates,” he added.
