Fantastic Frannie
A Little Bit Me
Peace happiness and progress are three of the many values held by
pretty Frannie Wing, a senior from Marietta, Georgia. Frannie is
majoring in sociology with a probable minor in political science, for
she believes they are “about life, and people and their interactions.”
She is concentrating in criminal justice and wants her career to be
what I am.” An independent democrat, who tends to think
socialistically, Frannie is by no means a conformist.
Speaking freely on politics and the present world situation, she
mentioned the mess the nation is currently in, saying, “my hope is that
when I leave this world maybe it will be a little better off than when I
got here for my having made some contribution, however small.”
Frannie is a member of the little sister group for TKE fraternity and
a member of Pi Gamma Mu, the social science honorary society.
She mentioned not belonging to a sorority, saying, “It’s not for me. I
just want to be an individual.” Later she got all involved discussing
stereotyped people, mentioning that “people conform to the extent of
being dull-even those being non-conformists are conforming to
nonconforming.”
Frannie added, “No one label can describe me-I suppose I’m a
mixture of a lot of things. Most important to me is to be yourself and be
tolerant of everyman’s lifestyle and beliefs.’’
Indeed, Frannie is an independent and often outspoken person. She
wears a POW-MIA arm bracelet and commented as to why. “For me it
is one small gesture than an individual can make to show he cares. I
intend to send it to him, (Major E. Lawrence Perrine) when and if he
is released, to let him know that someone that he never met cared
about him and his predicament.”
Politically inclined, Frannie feels it is her obligation to be informed.
She has been following the political issues of late and says “It will be
McGovern for me in the fall.”
To her, he represents progress for a nation which has become
stagnant. Her views on re allocating the nation’s wealth appear to be
socialist views, which follows consistently with her overall tendency of
generosity.
Frannie spoke of her past desire to be in the ballet, emphasizing the
importance of education to her. Upon graduation she would like to
work with people and help them deal with their problems, especially
kids.
