Fall Quarter Concerts
Bloodrock, Bill Withers To Perform This Fall
In Two Major Union Program Council Concerts
The Union Program Council
will sponsor two major concerts
during fall quarter. “Bloodrock”
will be on the West Georgia
campus Thursday, October 17 for
two performances, appearing in
the HPE building at 8 p.m. and
again at 10 p.m. Bill Withers will

Avery hard rock group composed of six members. Bloodrock will be
on campus Thursday, October 17 for two performances. Tickets will go
on sale in the student center lobby Wednesday.

held at 7:30 p.m. and again at
9:30 p.m.
BLOODROCK
“Bloodrock, an up-and-coming

group from Fort Worth, Texas,
has appeared at festivals and
concerts across the country.
Their hits “Find A Way” and
“DO.A.” took them to the
Festival of Man and Earth at
Thunderbird Beach, Louisiana,
and they have since traveled the
country, appearing with such
groups as “Grand Funk” and
with Lee Michaels.
The group is composed of six
members: Jim Rutledge is the
lead singer. Lee Pickens the lead
guitarist, Nick Talor rhythm,
Steve Hill plays the organ, Ed
Grundy, the bass, and Rick Cobb
the drums.
BILL WITHERS
Bill Withers, star of the second
concert, in December, is a
nationally known performer,
having recently appeared on the
Dick Cavett show, and has
performed in top night clubs
around the country. His “Ain’t No
Sunshine” has achieved Gold
Record status, and he has
recently been contracted to work
with “Blood, Sweat, and Tears.”
Primarily a writer, Bill
Withers is a West Virginia born
soul singer who comes across
with an informal show rap-wise
as well as musically. His other
hits include “Grandma’s
Hands,” “Harlem,” “A House Is
Not A Home,” “Let It Be,” and
his current “Lean On Me” and
“You’ve Got A Friend.”
Withers got his start by writing
and recording his own songs, and
when “Ain’t Got No Sunshine’’
sold over a million copies, his
career was launched. According
to Newsweek, his songs have a
strong appeal with their
man’s hidden feelings, his gentle
sentimental mood and memory

BILL WITHERS
Nationally known soul singer and composer Bill Withers will per
form here Friday, December I for two performances. His current
“Lean On Me” and "You’ve Got A Friend” are well-known hits.

Tickets to both concerts will be
on sale in the Student Center
Lobby beginning Wednesday,
September 20. “Bloodrock”
tickets will go for $2 for students
and $2.50 for guests. Tickets to
the Bill Withers show will be sold
for $1.50 for students and $2 for
guests.
