Fall Pre-Registration
For All Students
A ‘Realistic Goal*
Early registration for the 1975
Fall quarter is a realistic goal for
the registrar's office, said West
Georgia College registrar.
Elizabeth Parker.
The only problem according to
Miss Parker, lies with those
persons in the different depart
ments of instruction who have not
been able to prepare fall course
lists by the preceding Spring
quarter in order to hold early
registration during this time.
Miss Parker said that winter,
spring, and summer com
puterized early registration will
continue to be provided, but that
she hopes to implement the same
early registration procedure for
fall quarter 1975.
"The departments have been
unable to plan schedules that will
be ready for spring in order to
register for Fall. In getting
schedules out early, now that the
enrollment has leveled off at
West Goergia, the department
heads should be able to prepare
course lists far enough in ad
vance to have early
registration,’ said Miss Parker.
She also said that she was in
strong support of early
registration for Fall quarter. "I
want early registration. It’s
harder on us, but it keeps the
students happy.”

Restyles Entrance Exam
The Federal Service Entrance
Examination, which closed in
June will be replaced in October
by the new Professional and
Administrative Career
Examination (PACE), according
to the U. S. Civil Service Com
mission.
PACE will serve as a principal
means of entry into the Federal
early registration.
Miss Parker outlined the
procedure for the graduate
students who participate in early
registration. The graduate
student must pick up the IBM
class cards from the registrar’s
office for those courses he wishes
to take and then turn them in to
the business office. The student
may pay his fees immediately
and have his IBM cards
processed so as to enroll in these
classes immediately, or he may
ask the business office to hold his
IBM class cards on reserve until
he is able to pay for his fees.
IBM class cards will not be
processed until fees are paid,
and the last date when graduate
students may pay fees is Sept
member6. If fees are not paid by
this date, IBM cards will be
returned to the registrar’s office
to be placed back in circulation
for regular registration.

of entrance-level positions.

The written test to be used as
part of the new examination plan
has been redesigned to in
corporate major changes in both
content and coverage. Based on
extensive professional research
into the abilities needed on the
job, the written test will measure
a wider range of abilities.
The previous provisions for
recognizing outstanding
scholarship will also be changed
in the PACE examination.
Applicants who rank in the upper
ten percent of their graduating
classes will continue to be eligible
in the examination on the basis of
their academic standing. Such
standing will be recognized by
combining additional point credit
for outstanding scholarship with
ratings in the written test.
"We have reached the point
where many changes have taken
place in government occupations,
and many advances have been
made in the identification of
abilities needed for successful job
performance,” Robert E.
Hampton, chairman of the civil
service commission said. ‘‘lt is
time for these improvements to
be reflected in anew examination
procedure.”

ART STERNBERG
New Food Service Head
Maps Cafeteria Changes
BY SIIERMAINE BENTNER
Art Sternberg has plans for the
West Georgia College Cafeteria,
even though they don’t include
topless waitresses.
Sternberg, who took over as
manager of food services
recently, says there are several
changes to come with the new
food services management.
"Beginning fall quarter, a food
survey questionnaire consisting
of different menu items to be
checked off by the students will
be solicited,” said Sternberg.
According to Sternberg, there
will also be general questions
regarding food services, giving
students the chance to make
suggestions and complaints.
"I just hope that when the
survey comes out the students
will take it seriously, express
their opinions, and drop the
topless waitress bit,” said
Sternberg.

BY SUSAN STEWART
Dave Callaway, student
manager of campus radio station
WWGC since June 1973, has
assumed a permanent staff
position with the college as
general manager of the station.
Callaway, who will also serve

decorations.
"Students can expect an Italian
night or a French night, for
example,” said Sternberg
"These plans can only be
carried out if we can control the
people who try to get a free meal,
this will result in a cost factor to
us,” he added.
Sternberg is originally from
Long Island, New York, but
received an associate degree in
food services management from
the University of Miami.
Prior to his appointment at
West Georgia, he was the

improve relations between the
college and the community,” said
Callaway. He said that he hopes
to stimulate these relations
through music, entertainment
and educational programs.
Callaway said that he would
like to work with the WGC faculty
for more educational programs.
"I would like WWGC to be used as
a training ground to introduce
more people to radio.” He also
suggested the possibility of a
phone-in program to be aired
three hours daily which he said
will serve as an outlet for the
opinions of the WWGC listening
audience.
Callaway hopes to teach a
continuing education course this
fall to provide the people in the
area with an opportunity to study
for a third class broadcasting
license.
Callaway’s past radio ex
perience has been at five other
radio stations. He has worked at
radio station WAAG in Adel.
WRFC in Athens, WWGS in
