Student Gallery
This week’s Student Gallery was taken by Fred Ledbetter, a junior
political science major from Albany. The photograph is of an old
covered bridge several miles south of Thomaston on U.S. highway 19.
The bridge spans a tributary of the Flint River.

’Take Me, Exorcist!'
In the opening of the new
Theatre of the stars season in
Atlanta Tuesday producer
Christopher Manos announced
the selling of twelve thousand
season tickets for TOTS’ twenty
second summer season. 1 think
all 12,000 were there to see Gene
Kelly open in “Take Me Along.”
l’he show is worth the ad
mission charge; unless it goes up.
Actually the show goes over very
well considering the poorness of
the script and the idiocy of the
lyrics. But Gene Kelly in the
leading role is nothing less than
let ’s see good. But, he is only
two bows away from greatness:
when he stops the show' for his
bow as he enters for the first time
(to smattering of polite applause)
and when he performs an ob
viously contrived dance number
(complete with a rendition of
“Singing in the Bain”).
RUSS THACKER
The real star of the show turns
out to be Buss Thacker. He has a
voice and comic timing that will
lead him to better things than co
starring w ith Gene Kelly in a fair
road show .
Actually. Kelly’s performance
was good, and it was en
tertaining. But I couldn’t help
feeling that the show would have
l>een so much better if the stage
hands would stay out of sight
back stage instead of showing
you what they're doing.
If you get the chance to go
tonight, don't miss it. Because
whatever it may lack, it is live
theatre and chances to see
professional theatre in this part
ol the country are very limited,
unfortunately. (Next Tuesday
Nimoy opens in the
musical classic “Fiddler On The
Roof”.)
♦THE EXORCIST"
Today the Village theatre will
open “The Exorcist.”
Don’t see it!
That is not to say that it is not a
good movie. It is: one of the best
of the year. But the makers went
slightly over board in the realism
of the show.
If you do plan to see it. Take
some advice from one who
knows: don’t eat any popcorn
during or before the movie, and
don’t sit next to anyone else who
has either.
