But, even though the building
could be open in a matter of days,
the “troublesome baby,” as Dr.
Pafford calls it, still needs a
parking lot.
West Georgia College director
of fiscal affairs Mr. Ken Bat
chelor said estimated for the
parking lot are around $38,000.
This money would have to come
from the school funds and not
from the bond issue through the
Georgia Education Authority for
Universities, where ap
propriations came for the
building.
It was the Georgia Education
Authority that heard Dr. Paf
ford's request to stop the building
before ground was broken for it.
“When I came here in 1971 I
tried to have the building stop
ped, I could see that we might not
need it, but instead another type
of building, but the plans were
already there and it could not be
stopped,” Dr. Pafford, said.
When asked it he had any ideas
about the use of the building Dr.
Pafford said that he did indeed
have ideas, but that he would
rather be “left alone” with them
for a while because “they are not
yet definite enough.”
Faculty Team Presents
Program To Lawmakers
A faculty team from the School
of Education at West Georgia
College is making two presen
tations on “open education and
learning centers” in Washington,
DC.
The presentation is part of a
program sponsored by the
Educational Staff Seminar of
George Washington University
which is designed to “assist
professional staff of the executive
and legislative branches of the
federal government to become
more conversant with con
temporary developments in
American education at all
levels,” according to Sharon
Enright, assistant director of the
seminar.

Lens Angle
Hocus
Focus
BY MARK VELJKOV
Well, old professional
photographer, so you have a
camera. Now what?
If you read my article last time
and ran right out to buy a
camera, you must be either very
rich or very desperate. But in any
case you either bought a “Single
lens Keflex,” or a “Range fin
der” type. (Both of course are 35
mm, the kind all the pros use.)
And now you want to know how to
use it.
One of the first things you must
learn is how to focus your
camera. This is a very important
vitation to participate in the
Washington program a “high
honor” for the college’s School of
Education.
“This is national recognition of
the quality of our teacher
education faculty and an in
dication that the program offered
here is on the frontier of new and
healthy developments in the field
of Education, said Dr. Martin.
A&M Alumni
Plan Reunion
Paul Williamson, president of
the Fourth District A&M School
Alumni Association, announced
that the annual reunion of the
organization will be held at WGC
on Sunday, August 4.
Registration will begin at 10:30
a.m. in the Student Center. The
luncheon will begin at 12 noon.
In order to complete necessary
arrangements for the luncheon, it
is necessary that reservations be
returned to the Office of
Development and Alumni Ser
vices not later than August 1.
President Williamson said,
“We look forward to seeing our
many friends from the A&M
School on the first Sunday in
August each year.”
The members of the A&M
Association represent the
foundation upon which WGC was
established. “It was because of
accomplishments of that in
stitution, under the leadership of
Dr. I. S. Ingram, that the decision
was made to locate WGC on this
site,” according to Gene Hutsell,
WGC’s director of development
and alumni services.
Detailed information on
reunion plans will be sent to all
members of the A&M group.

step to remember, especially if
you’re taking porno pics and then
you want to make sure that
“everything” is in focus.
H irst, we will start v Jii the
SLR cameras because they
are the easiest to get a good sharp
locus. Take the camera and point
it towards you. Now Smile! Then
grab the lens (That’s the big
round thing in front that looks
like a nose ). And you’ll notice
that it turns very easily. That
means you are focusing. Now
turn the camera back around and
while pointing the lens at
someone you hate, look through
the viewfinder (that’s the little
glass window on the back of your
camera). Then again grab a hold
of the lens in front and start to
turn it. You can turn it either way
until the person that you are
looking at comes into focus.
If you’re not sure that your
subject is in good focus look at the
very middle of your viewfinder
and you’ll see a little round dot. If
your subject is in focus within
that little circle then you are in
focus. (If you keep turning and
still can’t focus, then it’s
probably you that’s out-of-focus
and you really should quit
drinking.)
So, that’s how to focus a single
lens reflex camera (SLR).
Next, the range-finder
cameras. Some of you may have
bought this kind of camera.
(Thai’s too bad because now you
don’t have the kind the pros use!)
The range-finder is similar to the
SLR in that they both have lens
and view finders. But they differ,
because with the SLR you are
looking directly through the lens,
and “what you see is what you
get,” and with the range-finder
you have to lie your subject up.”
By this I mean as you look into
your view finder you will see your
subject. When you look at your
subject there will be two things
wrong: 1) you will see a yellow
dot and two images. The thing to
do is grab hold of your lens again
and turn it until the two yellow
images become one. Then it will
be focused. 2) You will see just
two separate images. Turn your
lens until both images become
one Again, you’ll know that you
are in focus.
Next time: So what else is new?
Fighting
In 1889 one of the most savage
fights in boxing history took
place. John L. Sullivan, often
called the “Boston Strong Boy,”
knocked out Jake Kilrain in a 75
round fracas. Lasting two hours,
15 minutes, and 25 seconds. It was
(he last bare-knuckles match in
professional boxing.
