On To Poland!
The West Georgia College Singers, a special
30-voice group which will be touring Poland from
August 7-30, will present a benefit concert on
Monday August 5 at 8 p.m. in the Cashen recital
hall at the college.
The group will also perform on the Today in
Georgia television program at 9 a.m. on
Atlanta’s WSB-TV on August 5.
Carrollton Mayor Charles Lumpkin has
proclaimed Saturday, August 3, as West Georgia
College Singer Poland Tour Day. The Singers
will perform on the square in Carrollton at 10
a.m. on that day.
According to Bruce Borton, director of the
l group, the benefit concert will be one of the many
the choir members have carried out this
summer in raising funds to make the trip.l
Tickets for the concert are $2.50 and may be
purchased on the square on August 3 or at the
door on the concert night.
The invitation to visit Poland came as a result
of the success of a similar trip to Romania last
summer. The Polish government pays expenses
for the group while they are in Poland. Students

Republic, in his invitation to the group said,
•‘This is the first time that we have extended
such an invitation to young performing groups
