Although Dr. Pafford said he
feels he will be leaving the
college in good shape, both
physically and educationally, the
drop in enrollment has been
primary factor in the closing of
an estimated eight million dollars
worth of college facilities.
Dr. Pafford has had many
battles to fight though. The main
cause of turbulence being the
heavy usage of drugs on the
campus of West Georgia, which
gained infamy when a study

The resignation shocked
students Wednesday, due to the
secrecy of the decision. Many of
his closest co-workers knew
nothing of the president 's plans to
leave and return to Valdosta

In regard to the students, Dr.
Pafford issued a special
statement directed specifically to
the students. In it he said that the
announcement “is no cause for
anxiety. Things will progress on
campus in a regular and normal
way. 1 am responsible for doing
my job as well as I can
throughout the year, and I intend
to do so.”

Tony Stroud, a transfer from

These players plus the nucleus

the Braves another super squad.
The team officially opens

sign, Kaiser said.
British Writing Team
To Visit Carrollton
Graham and Heather Fisher,
perhaps Britain’s best known
husband-and-wife team, are
visiting Georgia this fall.
They will be spending nearly
three weeks with their son-in-law
and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Paul
Craig Roberts, in Carrollton,
where daughter, Linda, runs a
ballet school.
While the visit will be primarily
a social one, Mr. Fisher also
hopes to do background research

The first true sign, though,
comes in December when the
team travels to Erie, Pa., to play
in a tournament that has the top
small college teams in the nation.
According to Kaiser, the Braves
will probably face Maryland-
Eastern Shore in that first game,
which will give a good indication
of what kind of team West
Georgia will have.
But, will the people the Braves

that West Georgia will do all right
this year. In fact, they might do
