Memorial Site
Is Planned For
Historic Area
The West Georgia College
Foundation has voted to un
derwrite $1,500 for landscaping
the site of the old ad
ministration building on front
campus drive.
The 23-member board ap
proved the funding to establish
a memorial to the original
administration building con
structed in 1907.
According to Gene Hutsell,
executive director of the
foundation, ‘‘We all regretted
the necessity of having to
remove the building, but it
could not be avoided. Therefore,
we wanted to put on the site an
appropriate center to
memorialize this historic
area.”
Hutsell added. “Plans for the
site are practical as well as
attractive." Construction will
begin soon on walkways and
relaxation areas for faculty
staff, students, and visitors,
according to Troy Holcombe,
director of landscaping and
grounds
A feature of the area will be a
memorial pillar constructed
with bricks from the old ad
ministration building.
Pre-registration
Spring quarter students will
be able to preregister for
summer and fall quarters,
according to Elizabeth Parker,
registrar, and plans are un
derway to allow students to
preregister for all four quar
ters.
She said that preregistration
schedules for winter quarter
will be mailed on Nov. 18., and
the registrars office will be
opened until 6 p.m. from that
date onward to assist anyone
who needs help concerning their
schedules.
