Chi Phi Upsets Sigma Nu;
Kappa Sig Rolls Over Belts

The quarter-final round of the
men’s intramural football
championships was held this
week with four teams com
peting for the campus title.
In the fraternity division, Chi
Phi upset a strong Sigma Nu
team, 24-21, with the winning
margin coming on a 50-yard
field goal by Brian Bridges
which hit the crossbar and
bounced up and through the
goal posts.
The snakes had surprised
their opponents by scoring on
the first play of the game via a
60-yard halfback pass from

scoring strike to Ray Marsh and
later found Brian Bridges alone

score. A 30-yard run by Jimmy
Walker put the game on ice for
the Chi Phi’s.
Kappa Sigma easily defeated
Delta Tau Delta, 14-0, and
earned the right to face Chi Phi
in the fraternity championship.
The scoring came on a 35-yard
touchdown pass from Buddy
Gore to Donny Smith and Bob

Georgia College women’s
volleyball squad met
Mississippi State University for
Women in the 13th Annual WGC
Invitiational championship
match Saturday afternoon, but
were denied a second con
secutive title.
After going through the 19-
team tournament with an un
defeated record, West Georgia
met the only other unbeaten
team, MSUW, in the final
match. After taking the first
game 15-10, Coach McNabb’s

Dixie advanced to the division
championship by defeating the
Nherds, 20-7, highlighted by a
40-yard scoring aerial from
Randy Loggins to Gary Abbey.
The Farm earned in the in
dependent championship the
right to meet Dixie by pulling
out a hard fought 28-21 victory
over BSA. Wesley Brown scored
on a four yard run and later
exploded for a 60 yard score to
lead the Farm’s attack.
The divisional championships
will be held Monday, Nov. 18 at
4:30 p.m.

West Georgia defeated

play. East Tennessee State and
Flagler College fell to WGC in
the quarterfinals and semi
finals, respectively, to set up
the title match with MSUW.
