STUDENT GALLERY
This pencil graphic of a singing boy was done by Susan Panarelli.
Susan is a sophomore from Atlanta. The work is untitled.

“We eliminated these two
questionable areas and it
passed,” Dr. Learning said.
Dr. Lemuel Norrell, professor
of English and secretary of the
Faculty Senate, said, “I believe
the reason that it was rejected
is because the faculty is not
given the option of living on
campus. The college, in its
fringe benefits, should provide
parking for its employees since
they have to drive to work.
There is not as much necessity
for students to have parking as
employees”
There was also a queston of
legality in holding up checks of
employees.
Chief Johnson said that he
was in favor of the uniform five
dollar fee. “1 was the one that
suggested that. Let’s impose the
same fee on everyone. You can
rationalize anything you want
to, if that is Dr. Norrell’s
rationalization.”
Concerning the withholding of
employees’ paychecks, he said,
“I’m for that.”
Anew addition to the campus
patrol flee this quarter is an
unmarked, light blue Vega
station wagon that has raised
student questions.
Chief Johnson said, “It was
purchased for an investigative
car, but because some of our
other cars are so old, we use it
for traffic control.”
Movie Charge
A Possibility
The possibility of charging a
small entrance fee to the
movies shown each week in the
social science lecture hall was
discussed by the College
Program Board at a committee
meeting Wednesday.
According to Mike Styles, one
of the tn-chairmen of the
committee, the entrance fee
would be used to “show better
movies” spring quarter.
Several members of the
committee voiced objects,
saying that most students feel
they have already paid for this
entertainment.
“If the students could realize
we only get $1.52 of their student
activity fee to plan en
tertainment, they’d understand,
but there is no way of com
municating this to the average
student,” Styles said.
The discussion ended with no
final decision on the matter.
Parking ■
Asked if the use of an un
marked car for purposes other
than criminal cases is not
against Georgia state law, he
said, “Yes it is. Enforcement
people use the vehicle for
surveillance.”
But even with the increased
burden on drivers due to the
parking shortage, there is no
indication that fewer tickets
will be written by campus
police. In fact, the number is
likely to increase. Chief
Johnson has instructed the
department’s two full time
traffic control officers to
“strictly enforce" the traffic
code in “an attempt to get
students to comply with the
rules.”
Students who receive tickets
which they consider unjust have
one avenue of appeal: the
traffic court of appeals. The
courst. which consisted of an
elected student chairman, one
faculty member and one ad
ministrator, has three options:
it grants the appeal and the fine
is dropped, denies the appeal
and the fine must be paid, or
reduces the fine.

Fall Quarter Play Production
Focuses On ‘As You Like It’
BY MARGARET CLARKE
A series of scenes from
Shakesparean and con
temporary drama will be
performed during the first week
of December, Dr. J. Oliver
Link, director of the production,
announced this week. The
program will be centered
around William Shakespeare's
plays.
The three performances,
which will take place in the
studio theatre of the
humanities building, will
feature scenes from “The
Tempest”, “Macbeth”,
“Richard III”, Julius Ceasar”,
“As You Like It”, and
“Hamlet” and "The Glass
Menagerie” by Tennessee
Williams.
The scenes were chosen by
the students. Dr. Link,
associate professor of fine arts,
said that the performers
selected the scene they wished
Thus far this quarter, ac
cording to Larry Bridges,
student judiciary chairman, the
court has received 160 appeals.
Of these, 27 have been granted.
89denied, 37 reduced, and seven
are continuous re-appeals.
The accumulation of more
than five unpaid parking tickets
by a student subjects his or her
car to impoundment, according
to the traffic code, and this can
be expensive.
Cars which have been im
pounded are usually taken to K
and D GMC Sales and Service
located on the south 27 by-pass.
Becky Johnson, secretary at K
and D, said that the normal
towing fee is sls to sl7. “Also,
there is a $1.50 to $2 charge for
each day the car is left here,”
she said.
So, while the safety depart
ment, and the college as a whole
remain "financially unable” to
improve the traffic situation, it
appears, unfortunately, that
students must remain finan
cially able if they wish to
operate vehicles on campus.
to present in consultaton with
him.
This type of production was
chosen after the cancellation of
“Macbeth” because the cast
“wanted to present a quality
performance,” according to Dr.
Link. He added that to produce
a full production, including
costumes and scenery, would be
too much to do in the short time
they have to rehearse.
Dr. Link would make no
further comment on the
problems involved with the
cancellation of the “Macbeth
performance, saying that he
wanted to leave it a dead issue.

However, he did say that there
