The second PBL meeting for this
quarter will be held Thursday. March

The Winter State leadership Con
ference will be held Friday and Satur
day. March 5 and 8 at the University
of (ieorgia in Athens. Friday evening ’
activities will include a barbecue din
ner with a guest speaker. Three work
shops will lie held on Saturday These
workshops will include resume
preparation, fund raising, parliamen
tary procedure, and interviewing
technique. Each of these sessions w ill
Ik- presented twice in order to give
students an opportunity to attend two
of the three sessions.
Career Day
Any campus organization that
would like to participate in Business
Career Day 1982, may do so by
organizing and presenting a display in
the lobby of Z-8
( a roor I fay will be held Wednesday,
April 14, fromßa.m. untilsp.m. in the
lower level of Z-8 ’The display would
be the organization’s responsibility in

Scholarships Available for Japan Study
Several scholarships of $lOOO and
$5OO each are available for students
on tins summer’s Studies Abroad
I 'rogram m Japan. The program pro
vides an opportunity to earn
academic credit while exploring a
fascinating culture in which the an
cient and the modern are blended.
This will be the second summer for
Japanese Studies ui Kagoshima and
Tokyo. The program begins with an
introductory course in Japanese
culture, taught in Kagoshima.
Georgia's sister state ui Japan.
Courscwork is done in English. 1 x*c
tures at the university , several day s
of living with Japanese families,
visits to fisheries, local industries,
and a samurai village, receptions,
directed reading, and sightseeing an*
all a part of this initial experience of
Japan. The group then spends ID
days traveling Visits include Kyoto
and Nara. the ancient capitals of
Japan, whose temples and palaces
exhibit the ornate splendor of
Japanese architecture.
The last five weeks are spent in
Tokyo, where each student chooses
two of the courses offered at Sophia

The Executive Council of Kappa
Delta Pi (DKPi) honor society in
education has unanimously approved
West Georgia College for a local
chapter location.
The society, consisting of 371 col
lege and 38 alumni chapters, is head
quartered in West I-afayette, Ind.
Founded in 1911 at the University of Il
linois, KDPi’s express purpose is to
recognize outstanding contributions
to education.
The organization publishes
EDUCATIONAL FORUM, one of the
outstanding journals in the general
field of education and KDPi
RECORD, which carries communica
tions from the Executive Council as
well as society and chapter news and
contributions from educators at all
levels of the profession
Membership in the society is open
by invitation to junior, senior, and
graduate education majors who rank
in the upper 25 percent of their class.

The first meeting of the West
Georgia College Society of
Criminology will be held on Wednes
day, March 3 at 3 p in. in Room 110 of
the social science building. Election of

The price of $8,495 includes round
trip airfare from Atlanta to Japan,
all meals and housing throughout,
tuition, and the group travel in
Japan. Scholarship applicants should
apply for the program itself and also
indicate their interest m the scholar
ship in a letter to the Studies Abroad
office. Program application forms
are available from Dr. Douglas Hilt,
the campus representative for West
Georgia College, whose office is in

Positions Available
Auditions for two summer enter
tainment productions at Stone Moun
tain Park will be held March 12-14 at
the park’s lakeside Center
Altogether, 28 musical and
dramatic positions will lx* filled dur
ing the three-day auditions, accor
ding to KMT Productions
(Raz'Mataz), a Clarkston, Ga. firm
which will head up the park's sum
mer entertainment shows.
Actors and actresses, female
singers and dancers and musicians
who play trumpet, trombone, reeds,
guitar, banjo, bass and drums may
audition for the two separate casts.
The musical group will play
throughout the park during the 1982
summer season which will run from
approximately June 12 through
labor Day. The dramatic cast will
perform in the park’s Railroad Show
Auditioning actors and actresses
should prepare short recitations;
singers and dancers should prepare a
song-and-dance routine and should
expect to participate in an impromp
tu performance involving both sorig
and dance. Musicians should prepare

All auditioners should limit their
perfomance to three minutes, accor
ding to a spokesman for KMT Pro
ductions The spokesman added that
a piano, a piano accompanist and a
cassette tape player will be available
for use by all auditioners.
Persons trying out for either show
must lie 16 years of age and available
to work a six-day week, the KMT
spokesman said
The Friday ami Saturday auditions
(March 12-13) will be held from 10
am until 6 p.m. Sunday auditions
will begin at noon and continue until 6
p m. No parking permit fee will be
charged for auditioners.
