Jazz Ensemble to
perform at PAC

West Georgia College’s Jazz En
semble, led by Dr. Dan Bakos, will
hold a concert at the Perform ing Arts
Center November 21 at 8 p.m.
The set will include several songs
written by Dan Metzser. One song
“Payin’ Those Bass Playin’ Dues
Blues,” features bassist A.J. Halz.
In addition, the ensemble will
perform a Latin feature,Paul Lopez’s
“Uno Mas” and “Sylvia,” which fea
tures Charles Dumas on alto saxo
phone.
Other songs scheduled to be per
formed are “Yardbird Suite” by
Charlie Parker and Lieb, “A Good
Ballade is Hard to Find” by Doug
Beach, and Doug Schamber’s “Now
and Then.”
Admission is free.

Covert to show ceramics for sale

Cameron Covert, art department
faculty member and potter, will be
displaying his work in an exhibition
to run from November 24- 26. The
exhibit will also run December 2-6.
The exhibit will be held in the
first floor gallery in the Humanities
Building opening Nqvember24 with
a reception. In addition, pottery will
be for sale during the exhibition.
Pottery will consist of Rakuware,
Highfire, Anagama, and
Utilitarianware.
“Most of my technique is throw
ing on a potter’s wheel which is 5000
years old; the only difference is that
the potters wheels in use at the col
lege are electric,” Covert said.
“Everything is handmade and
fired here; also I make all of my
glazes,” Covert added.
Concert Choir to present fall concert
The West Georgia College
Concert Choir will present its fall
concert Sunday, November 24, at
3 p.m. in the Performing Arts Cen
ter.
WGC’s Director of Choirs,
Kevin Hibbard, said the 50-mem
ber group will perform several
numbers and features including a

Western State University in
Kalamazoo, Michigan. In addi
tion he holds a Master of Fine
Arts from there, and a Master of
Arts from Wayne State Univer
sity in Detroit, Michigan.

ers Crossroads Juried Art exhibi
tion in Newnan, Ga; Juried Arts
Festival of Atlanta in 1990 and
1991; and the Swan Coach Invi
tational in Atlanta, also in 1989,
1990 and 1991.
After the exhibition at WGC,
Covert’s pottery will be appear
ing with other artists’ work at the
JH Gallery in Macon through
Christmas.
