Student budgets due
In the development of the Stu
dent Activities budget each year,
college policy and procedures call
for preparation of recommendations
by the Student Activities Fund Com
mittee, which is a faculty-student
subcommittee of the Student Ac
tivities Committee of the Faculty
Senate, and subsequent review of
the recommendations by the Student
Government Association. To expe
dite the work of the Student Activi
ties Fund Committee, the initial re
view of the requests is undertaken by
the Director of Student Activities for
the non-athletic areas and by the
Athletic Director for the athletic ar
eas. Based on revenue projections,
the Director of Student Activities
and the Athletic Director will prepare
budget proposals for review by the
Student Activities Fund Committee.
The deadline for your funding re
quests is January 31,1992.

Campus recruiting faces a slump
(CPS) —Colleges around the
country report that the number of
corporate recruiters coming to job
fairs and campus interviews has
plummeted as much as 60 percent in
the past 24 months.
The cold shoulder being given
campuses by corporations during a
recession-battered economy has sent
schools scrambling for creative ways
to entice recruiters to check out their
graduates.
In a move to woo corporate re
cruiters, show off star graduates and
save money, 15 colleges have
planned a job fair in Chicago on
January 15,1992, whereoutstanding
MBA students will gather to be in
terviewed. The universities will

Anew grading scale was dis
cussed at last Monday’s Student
Government Association (SGA)
meeting.
Senator Cliff Deaton spoke with
the Freshman Council about pro
posing a grading scale that would
distinguish between a low (B-) and a
high (B+) letter grade.
In other business, Senator Debbie
Ingle requested that Pat Hughes,
assistant to the vice president hold a
seminar for the freshman advisors.
The date for the seminar has not yet
been set.

to the committee also. In all likeli
hood, however, the availability of
additional monies will be very lim
ited.

the person submitting the request,
campus address and phone number.

Brief Justification for Increases.

California, officials say there is a
marketing effort going on that in
cludes telephone calls, announce
ments at football games and work
ing with alumni publications to
stimulate interest in hiring graduates.

Michigan State, University of Min
nesota, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn
State, University of Pittsburgh, the
State University of New York at
Buffalo, Tulane, University of
Washington at Seattle and University
of Wisconsin at Madison.

Anew meeting attendance policy
was set by the SGA for its senators.
The new attendance policy states
that two absences from an SGA
meeting means the senator will be
removed from the senate. A senator
is also counted late if more than five
minutes late for the meeting.
In old business, the SGA sign
was moved to the space formerly
occupied by the IFC sign.

New external degree program opens
The Association for Childhood
Education International (ACEI)
started the West Georgia College
External Degree Program (at
Dalton College) Student Branch.
The WGC External Degree
ACEI Student Branch elected its
first officials during fall quarter.
