Sethna reaffirms
UWG's commitment
to 'no-harassntent'
By Dr. Beheruz N. Sethna
President, UYVG
Dear Members of the University Community:
The purpose of this letter is to reaffirm University policy and my personal
commitment to maintain our campus as a place of academic and social discourse for
our students, faculty, and staff, which is free of invidious harassment, particularly all
forms of harassment based on ethnicity, gender, race, religious belief.sexual orientation,
or disability. All of us should be aware that harassment of this sort at the University
of West Georgia is unacceptable conduct, which will not be tolerated or condoned.
Indeed, our senior colleagues with whom I have discussed this matter and 1, believe
that Educational Excellence in a Personal Environment can exist only in an atmosphere
free of all forms of harassment and discrimination.
Further, it is a matter of considerable personal and University pride that this
reaffirmation is an annual one, reflects the philosophies of this University, and is not
a response to any specific incident. This letter is simply a reaffirmation; it is not a
policy statement, nor does it replace our existing policies as presented in the Faculty
Handbook, Staff Handbook, and Student Handbook.
Thank you for helping to create a positive and productive learning environment,
and please join me in
pledging to continue to preserve it.
Sincerely,
Beheruz N. Sethna, Ph D.
Professor of Business Administration, and
President of the University

Why don’t Mass Comm majors communicate?
Why do only a handful of Mass Comm majors work for The West
Georgian ? Are the rest all asleep, dreaming about that great job as a
TV news anchor, or a public relations executive or even as managing
editor of a major daily newspaper? Dreams are wonderful, but the
reality is that the people who have those great jobs all got there by
being skilled at writing a news story.
Most of the graduates who get the best jobs have something in
common-practical writing experience and the clippings to back it up.
You can get both by writing for The West Georgian.
All interested students (any major) are invited to join us at our
staff meetings, every Monday at 12:15 p.m. We’re located in UCC
Room 111, adjacent to the food court. Or contact the editors at
