In celebration of
homecoming, the BSA
held a 3 on 3 Basketball
tournament in the HPE
Building last Thursday.
The tournament also
included a three-point
shooting contest and a
slam dunk contest.
The turnout was huge
and the students were
given an impressive show.
" The first event was
the three-ipoint contest.
All participants had 60

shots as possible.
After an impressive
first round performance.
Matt Jordan went into the
final round as the favorite
to win. Having only 30
seconds in the final round,
he shot 8 three pointers to
win first place.
Adding to the
excitement was the Slam
dunk contest.
In the contest, each
participant had three
chances to dunk before they
made their first basket.
All players showcased
their vertical leaps, giving
the audience a treat.
However, it was
Larico Stevenson who
was the most consistent,
winning with an array of
breath-taking dunks.
After finalizing the
pre-game festivities, the 3
on 3tournament was held.
The two teams advancing
to the championship game
were Absolute and Just
Do It.
Both teams showcased
great talent, but Just Do
It overmatched their
opponents, easily winning
12-4.
The winners were
given S6O each, free tickets
to the Step Show and a
variety of prizes.

I can hear it now. Once
the World Series is over
and the Cardinals win,
people will be complaining
because the Braves are not
in the same spot.
Maybe I am being a
little too hasty predicting
a World Series winner this
early in the playoffs, but I
think it is safe to predict
that Braves fans will
complain as always.
I am also disappointed
that the Braves lost their
first round series to the
Astros and I am also
thinking about all the
productive things I could
have done with those five
hours I spent watching
that marathon of a game
last Sunday.

The Braves defense as
a whole was responsible
for five sacks and four
interceptions as they
completely shut down the
UWA offense.
For the Braves, the
running attack was led by
Taylor, as he gained 118
yards on 11 carries for
an impressive 10.7 yards
per carry and scored two
touchdowns.
Abe Felix added 83
yards, and Rowe rushed
for 71.
though, I am willing to
look at the bigger picture.
I am able to remember
May and June when I was
wondering who I would
pull for in the playoffs
when the Nationals won
the division.
Despite the Braves
having to use several
rookies this season and
a slew of injuries, they
somehow pulled through.
When August and
September rolled around,
it was situation normal.

excellent game while the
the defense held the Tigers
to -7 yards rushing and
only 112 yards of offense.
In the passing game,
the Braves were less
successful, as starter
Keats Baldwin threw for
only 30 yards while his
backup Brett Yenser had
33 yards passing.
With the win, the
Braves improved to 4-3
on the season and, more
importantly, 4-l in the
Gulf South Conference.

summer a lot of fun for
baseball fans.
Thanks to this season,
Bobby Cox, Leo Mazzone
and John Schuerholtz
are finally getting all the
credit they deserve both in
and out of Atlanta.
It’s an interesting
situation when the three
shoe-ins for the Hall of
Fame on a team are not
even players.
Also, Andruw Jones
finally played to his full
potential for a full season
and John Smoltz proved
that he is able to stay
relatively healthy over a
162 game schedule.
The Baby Braves, as
they are often called, are
going to be younger and
more experienced when
the 2006 season begins.
There’s no need to be
concerned yet, because it
might be situation normal
for a long time in the
National League East.

Thursday night, the
Braves are now in a five
way tie for first place with
Arkansas Tech, Valdosta

Next week. West
Georgia will host another
home game when they
will host the Southern
Arkansas Muleriders.
The game, which will
be televised regionally
on CSS, will be at
Carrollton’s Grisham
Stadium. Kickoff is
scheduled for 7 p.m.
