While at the Maple Street
Mansion, I couldn’t stop
asking myself why I waited
so long to see a Groovebucket
show. Halfway through the
first song, it was obvious that
I had been missing out on a
band that seems to be a well
kept secret in Carrollton.
Better late than never.
The current four
members have been

it was apparent through the
continuity and energy they
projected on stage. Not
knowing what to expect,

much the band interacted
with the audience. They
began taking requests from
the audience after about
three songs, which began

executed cover songs.
From the Mother’s Finest
song “Mickey's Monkey” to
Led Zeppelin’s “Hey, Hey,
What Can I Do” and Rage
Against The Machine’s
“Sleep Now In The Fire,”
they put their own outstanding
twist on each number. Their
performance of the Beatles’
“Come Together” got the
entire audience on their feet
and perhaps one of the best
covers they [XTlormed was
their own rock version of
Outkast’s "Bombs Over
Baghdad." That’s right, they
did an Outkast cover!
Not only did the band
show their talents through
the flawless covers they
performed, but they also
showed their creativity by
performing original material.
One impressive example
would be theirsong“Bandit”,
which was written after
lead singer Kyle Gilbert’s
favorite movie Smokey and
The Bandit. Groovebucket
mixes elements of classic
rock, modem rock, funk,
and blues to give everybody
something to enjoy.
The best way I can
describe the talent of guitarist
Kevin Lyle is that I like the guy
until he picks up a guitar. Asa

but be jealous. The only way
I could lx* more impressed
with his play ing is if he played

Long is fast, flawless, and
energetic. Bassist Jon Mark
Lundell is also very talented
and obviously the class clown
of the group. His joking

In a business where half the

compares favorably to major

more nauseating (not a

the original.
Wes Craven is
definitely one of the
masters of horror and has
contributed immensely
to the genre. However,

with his inept European
direction. Craven has
done both himself and his
fans a great disservice.
