Token White’s final show is tentatively planned for January. Matt Graff and Alan Powell, had its second-to-last show this past Thursday at the Irish Pub. The guys entertained almost 75 people in the upper room of the Pub with rock favorites by bands such as Maroon 5, Breaking Benjamin and 311. The band has been together for nearly two and a half years, performing first as a three-piece acoustic outfit in 2004 and progressing to the current five-piece band. Each member of Token White is involved in other bands such as If By Chance, Hed Trip Drama and The Red Tide Saga, which features three of the five Token White members. Token White is finally ending its lengthy run as a cover band. According to Watts, the guys want to focus on the other bands in which they can perform original music, as opposed to Token White’s sole cover band status. When asked how the show went. Watts said, “It was definitely energetic and fun—one of the best we’ve played in Carrollton. I think we really gave it our all since we are nearing the end of Token White”. Front and center at the show was a large entourage of ladies sporting shirts emblazoned with the label “Token White Groupie”, a testament to the band’s popularity among students. The final show for Token White is tentatively planned for January and is expected to be a big send off. There are no official plans for the show just yet but more information w ill be forthcoming for those fans who want to see the band’s last concert. Reel continued front page 5 in places hilarious, can also make people uncomfortable in a voyeuristic sort of way. If the unwitting Americans are authentic, it’s easy to feel sorry for them. One example would be the news director at the Midwest TV station Borat appeared at in the film. She was tired, probably rightly so, for not screening him before air. And in the latest Borat-related scandal, two drunken frat boys who appeared in one of the funniest sketches of the film are filing a lawsuit claiming defamation. But the uproar this film has caused is simply contributing to the hype and will undoubtedly cement it in pop culture and give the film a cult icon status. Borat makes constant derisive comments against Jews (excused because Cohen is Jewish) and women, not to mention the poor people of Kazakhstan. In a particularly lewd and nauseating scene, Borat and his morbidly obese producer wrestle naked in their hotel room after Borat catciies Azamat making a “hand party” to his Pamela Anderson magazine. “Borat” crosses most lines of political correctness and accepted humor, but most in the audience don’t seem to mind. If you can stomach some of the raunchier scenes, laugh out loud at jokes that most only think and forget about the poor schleps that were humiliated in this film, then it's definitely worth checking out in the theatre. I’ve been doing it for over two years and it lias been an absolute blast. I'd like to say "thank you" to my fiancee Katie, who has gone with me to every movie, had patience at Gallerv Row while / wrote and been an endless source of fresh perspective. To my readers: Please remember that movies Hike life) are all about what YOU like, not what some critic says. All that’s reallv important is that movies can provide a brief vacation from reality, sometimes making you laugh and sometimes cry. That said, thanks again and goodbye!
