In 1987 Greg Gowens,
an astronomy teacher here
at West Georgia, decided
to open a comic book store
because he was easily bored
and “it was something to
do”. After twenty years and
many changing trends in
graphic novels. Quest Comic
Shop remains Carrollton's
one true source for any and
all things comics, and Greg
still gets bored.
Since its opening.
Quest has moved around
a lot; 11 times to be exact.

Their recent move into the
Brave’s Bookstore building
on Maple Street might have
surprised a few students
who didn’t realize that their
college town even had a
comic book shop, much
less one with such a long
history.
Once inside, these
newcomers will find walls
packed with a w ide array of
comics and graphic novels,
action figures, t-shirts,
posters, anime, and CCG
(customizable card game)
items. Gaming tournaments
are held frequently and a
birthday club is available in
which those on the mailing
subjects to ensure the proper
treatment of these subjects.

The friendly employees
are all family, and all very
knowledgeable, willing
to make suggestions or
just talk comics. For those
interested in the idea of
reading comics but who
don’t know w here to begin,
entering the ever-changing
“comic universe” can be a
bit daunting. Luckily Greg
and family are there to
help.

and personal security,
it is also a good idea to
keep your personal things
secure. Don’t carry your
social security card in your
wallet. Also don’t carry
more credit cards than you
will realistically need on
any given day. That way if
your purse or wallet is lost
or stolen, you minimize
your vulnerability.
Another identity theft
scam that is far less likely
to be noticed early on
involves the United States
Postal Service. Con artists
have been known to tile
fraudulent change of address
forms, thus diverting all
mortgage notices, credit
card bills, and even utility
bills, to a different location

Quest Comics' move into the former Braves Bookstore building means that UWG
comic junkies are now within walking distance to browse the latest releases. As
one famous animated comic book fan would say, “best location ever".
-usually a post office box in
a chain store. They can then
gamer loans, credit cards,
and even new mortgages
in the name of the victim.
Often days go by before the
victim realizes they have
not received a credit card
bill or bank statement. The
Postal Service is aware of
this trend and force delivers
verification forms of all
change of address requests
to the previous address;
however, that is not always
enough. Protect yourself
by utilizing secure online
bill pay and when you must
receive paper statements,
keep note of when they
normally arrive and follow
up if they are late. The threat
of identity theft is always
imminent, it is up to you if
you become a victim.
