By Alaine Murphy

This past Friday, the
Department of Music
hosted a piano recital
featuring JeongSoo Kim
and Carol Gingerich.
The two skilled pianists
chose an array of musical
selections, tracing
the art of piano duet
through the nineteenth
and twentieth centpries.
For clarification: a [Rano
duet or “piano jfour
hands” is when a musical
piece is performed by
two artists together on
the same piano. \ (Two
pianists performing

separate pianos •" are
referred to as a piano
duo).
The * musiic
played by pfapists,
Kim and Gingerich,
complemented ' ( each
other beautifully. , They
alternated between
playing the same notes
at different octaves and
harmonizing notes into a
veritable auditory buffet.

Some of the selected
pieces were light and
happy while others were
dense and dramatic. The
program concluded with
a contemporary example
of melodic excellence,
accompanied by alto
saxophone player,
Mariano Pacetti.
In between
performing the musical
pieces, the pianists,
with the technical aid
of Power Point, gave
a brief history of the
composer - the times he
lived in, those he was
influenced by, as well as
his contribution to music
as a whole. They also
described the musical
progression of piano
duet in the context of
nineteenth and twentieth
century Europe.
Besides the
central performers, the
recital incorporated
the collaboration of
several members of the
UWG faculty as well
as its students. Dr.

Episodes in Sexuality returns
West Georgia Theater
Company Press Release
The West Georgia
Theatre Company, in
association with the
Responsible Sexuality
Committee presents
the 16th production of
Episodes in Sexuality.
Episodes in Sexuality
is widely known and
popular among students
on campus. You're
not a West Georgian
if you haven't seen
one of the shows. This
year’s theme, Respect:
Personal, Local, Global,
is visualized through a
fashion show.
Segments of cheesy
humor and serious
matters take place on a
runway with the actors
as models, opening
with a cabaret style
performance of Aretha
Franklin’s Respect with
an unexpected singer.
Sports writers Needed
We're looking for writers wanting
to cover different sporting events
here at UWG. Have your interest in
Wolves athletics published in the
West Georgian by emailing Jesse
Duke at:
uwgpaper@westga.edu.
Corso and Norman
Johnson assisted
in the Power Point
presentation. Finally,
Matt Bass provided back
up technical assistance.
Traditional topics like
STDs, virginity, and rape
are addressed, but with
original perspectives.
Then there are the
farcical stories that
make fun of the situation
itself. Days of our Sexy
Lives is a parody of the
ridiculous drama of soap
operas portraying human
interaction. I Saw You
on Facebook will hit a
little close to home with
mocking humor.
The ensemble
includes Tasia Brown of
Lithonia; Matt Hambrick
of Marrietta; Justin
Heath of Lawrencville;
Stacie Hecht of
Newnan; Robert Jenkins
of Brunswick; Hope
Mullinax of Buford; and
Holly Thomas of Rome.
