The season has been
rough for West Georgia,
enduring multiple
losing streaks and tough
losses against divisional
opponents. However,
facing Alabama-
Huntsville in their last
home game of the season,
the Wolves swept the
Chargers in the three
game series and gave
the crowd an offensive
showcase. The Wolves
took care of business,
winning 7-3 and 6-1 in
the doubleheader.

Ultimate Frisbee regular season comes to a close

Friday for many of West
Georgia students means a
weekend trip home. But,
contrary to apparent popular
belief, the school does not shut
down from Friday to Monday
morning. In fact, Fridays in
the Spring find the intramural
fields alive with activity.
This past Friday the
regukir season for Ultimate
Frisbee came to a close.
Four games were played at
the season-finale to finalize
playoff seeding and match
ups.
At 3 o'clock CCF and G
unit (Gunn Hall) finished their
seasons in the Red Division.
Both teams came into the
game winless, and neither will
make an appearance in the 4-
team playoff. CCF played its
best game of the year, jumping
out to a 6-0 halftime lead. It
looked like it would be a
blowout after the first half, but
G-unit put up a valiant effort
in the second half, showing
some grit, and outplaying

University of West Georgia national championship cheerleaders showed off their
championship rings to state representatives Thomas Benton (left) and Michael Coan,
both UWG alumni, when the squad was recently honored in both the House and the
Senate during UWG Day at the Capitol. The cheerleaders were joined by Dr. Thomas J.
Hynes, acting university president; members of the UWG Legislative Advocates; fac
ulty; staff and administrators who made the trip to Atlanta to thank the UWG legisla
tive team for their support of higher education in general and UWG in particular. Coan,
who graduated from West Georgia in 1992 with a Bachelor of Business Administration
degree in management, was a cheerleader himself as a student at the university. He
represents District 101. Benton, who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history at West
Georgia in 1972, represents District 31.
UWG Press Release
regained his focus and
held the Chargers to
only three hits in final
eight innings.
Producing seven
hits and seven runs, the
Wolves controlled the
first game, which lasted
approximately 3 hours
and 30 minutes. Bradley
Abell was big for the
Wolves, going 2-for-4
with an RBI and helping
his team to victory.
Game Two started
good for the Wolves as
A.J. Renfrow led off the
inning with a double to
left-center, extending
his team-high hitting
streak to 17 games. After
Abney’s single, Renfrow
scored to give his team
the early lead in the first
inning.
Scoring two runs and
adding three more runs in
of 10-5.

entered the game 2-2 as the
benefit of 2 forfeit victories
over Pike and Chi Phi. The
winner of the game would
take the 2-seed from the Blue
Division. Stall Nine was the
favorite, coming into the game.
They won the championship
two years ago and finished
as last year's runner-up. The
game started out as expected
with Stall Nine jumping out to
a 44) lead early on, highlighted
by an amazing diving catch by
Matthew Lewis in the end /one
that might find its way onto
the "Sportscenter Top Ten,”
were it not for the absence of
a video camera. Stall Nine
carried that momentum to
a 6-2 lead at the half. The
second half provided more
entertainment, as Mike Hill,
the 2006-2007 Male Athlete
of the year, led Sigma Nu in a
bit of a come back, including
3 straight points. However,
the experience and athleticism
of Stall Nine proved to be too
much, as they closed the game
out late, winning by a 12-6
the second inning. West
Georgia never looked

After the first games of
the day. 2 games remained. In
the Blue Division, ‘Lai Zeta
Seis," at least according to the
schedule, looked for a tune-up
before the playoffs against Pi
Kappa Phi. The Z-6ers had
already kxkcd up the first seed
in the Blue Division, by virtue
of a 10-2 early season victory
over Stall Nine. However, 3
straight forfeit victories had
left the Z-6ers hungry for an
actual game, before a playoff
run to repeat last season's
championship, which came
as a result of a 12-4 victory
over, runner-up, Stall Nine.
This game was well played,
and never really in doubt.
At halftime the Z-6ers led
6-2. Not much changed in
the second half as the Z-6ers
finished the game with a 104
victory.
While finishing their
perfect season on one field,
two teams looked to finish
perfect regular seasons on
the adjacent field. The Blue

the most intriguing match-up

defense and opportunistic
offense led SCAP to a quick

Refusing to bow

the Wolves offense was
too much for Alabama-
