The UWG Jazz Ensemble gives
knock out performance Friday

The UWG Jazz
Ensemble gave a fantastic
display of their talents
Friday, November 9th.
The performance was
the twelfth event of the
Department of music’s
2007-2008 concert
series. it showcased
some old school hits
including “Blue Skies"
by Irving Berlin and
Roger Holmes and
“That Old Black Magic”
by Johnny Mercer,
Harold Arlen and Mark

Taylor. Nandani Persaud
contributed her brilliant
vocals to the songs
“Blue Skies”, “That Old
Black Magic” and “Hard
Hearted Hannah”.
The ensemble was
under the direction of
Dr. Daniel Bakos who
mixed music w ith a bit of
comedy. Solos included
Kendall Lawson and
Lee Ritchie among
others. Upcoming
events include the
Tw'enty-Third Annual
Sunbelt Jazz Festival,
Friday, April 25th, 2008
at the Townsend Center
starting at Bpm.

annual indoor Varsity
Show, Wednesday,

November 7th at the
Townsend Center for
Performing Arts. The
band split up into
instrumental sections to
demonstrate their skills.
The show highlighted
extreme creativity, from
the mini ballet presented
by the flutes to a
hilarious rendition of
Game from pa ye 9
Rock Band may borrow
a tried and true formula
front Guitar Hero, but it
expands it exponentially
with the ability to know
play as one of many parts
of a band.
Players that feel
more comfortable with
their Expert level skills
in Guitar Hero may stick
with the lead guitar or
bass, but players that
rather show off their
pipes can now grab a
microphone and lead

on. Whatever the musical
instrument selected,every
player plays an important
part in the creation and
balance of the band.
While Solo Tour
mode can give players
the individual attention
needed to hone their skills,
the time may eventually
come that requires all
four instruments and
players to come together
online to form their band
and prove to the rest of
