Remember the
guy who used to make
headlines by playing
basketball and dressing
in drag? He was a
little rowdy and very
flamboyant. He was
once married to Carmen
Electra.
Well, that guy is
Dennis Rodman— and
he now wants to get
involved with Atlanta
basketball.
Rodman wants to
coach Atlanta's new
Womens National
Basketball Association
team. But there is one
problem, the ow ner of the

team, Ron Terwilliger,
wants a woman to coach,
and wearing make-up
and putting on heels
doesn’t count.
Rodman would be
able to generate buzz
for the unnamed team,
which is set to begin
playing in 2008, but
Terwilliger feels that he
(Rodman) lacks essential
skills that he is looking
for in a coach.
“My own view is
that I don’t think he’s
currently qualified to
be a head coach. And
we’d prefer to have a
women’s coach since
it’s a women’s league,”
Terwilliger said.
Terwilliger said he
has interviewed three
candidates and hopes
to have a coach named
by Thanksgiving. The
real-estate executive
has spoken with former
Georgia All-American
Teresa Edwards. Edwards
is now in her second
season as an assistant
coach with the WNBA’s
Minnesota Lynx.
“We’re hoping one
way or another she’ll end
up with the franchise,”
Terwilliger said. “We
need someone who
knows the league, knows
how it works, knows the
players and knows the
college talent coming
up.”
As of now, no one
has been hired for the
position.
