Ebenezer Aka, interim chaiiman of
the Department of Political Science
and Urban Studies, presented a
paper titled “Recent U.S. Federal
Policies on Home Foreclosure Crisis
and Potential Mixed Impacts on
Borrowers and Economy” at the
National Technology and Social
Science Conference in Las Vegas,
March 24-26. Aka presented
another paper, “Socio-Economic
Determinants of National Ecological
Footprints in Asia Pacific Countries,"
during the International Conference
Center- Hiroshima in Hiroshima,
Japan, Jan. 23-25. He also was an
honorable mention in “Who's Who in
Academia” in the Jan. 2013 edition
of News Digest International
Melissa Bailey, assistant to
the director of Alumni Relations,
Special Events and Annual Giving,
received a master of arte degree in
leadership from Shorter University
on May 3.
Tiffany Bussey, director
of the Morehouse College
Entrepreneurship Center,
earned a doctorate in business
administration from Heriot Watt
University’s Edinburgh Business
School on April 19.
Vicki Crawford, executive
director of the Office of the
Morehouse College Martin
Luther King Jr. Collection, wrote
the column, "2013: A Year to
Look Back and Forward,” which
appeared in the Feb. 28 issue of
Diverse: Issues in Higher Education
magazine.
Andrew Douglas assistant
professor of political science, wrote
the article “C.LR. James and the
Struggle for Humanism,” which
appeared in Constellations: An
International Journal of Critical and
Democratic Theory, Vol. 20, No. 1,
March 2013.
Naviar Barker, grant writer in the
Office of Research and Sponsored
Programs, presented the paper,
“The Impact of Attitudes Towards
Homosexuality on Health Policy
Support” during the 6th Annual Health
Disparities Conference, March 7-9, at
Xavier University in New Orleans. Also
presenting during the conference was
Wallace Sharif, assistant professor of
biology, who gave a presentation titled
‘Telomere Length as a Biomarker
for Health Status in African American
and Sinead Younge, assistant
professor of psychology, who gave
a presentation titled, “Explomg
Masculine Capital and Sexual
Behavbs Among Males Attending a
Historically Black College: Implications
for Prevention Interventions."
C.O. Hollis, chief audit officer,
was featured in the Atlanta
Business Chroniclds special
section on the Institute of Internal
Auditors on Feb. 8. Hollis was
quoted in a story on certified
internal auditor certification and in
a story in which he was honored
with the naming of the C.O. Hollis,
Jr. CPA CIA CFE Certifications
Honor Roll named after him.
Monique Earl-Lewis, director
of the Faculty Development Center,
gave the presentation “Building a
Faculty of Distinction to Prepare
Males for Enlightened Leadership
in the 21st Century Global
Community” during the Wiley
Learning Institute's Research
Roundtable on Feb. 21.
Preston King, scholar-in
residence in the Leadership
Center at Morehouse College,
is collaborating with former
Leadership Center executive
director Walter Fluker on the
conference, “Justice: Violence and
Forgiveness" at Boston University,
May 20-22. The conference
features 25 papers, including one
by Kipton Jensen, assistant
professor of philosophy, on
Howard Thurman ’23 and non
violence. King also will present a
paper on violence and justice.
Alison Ligon, assistant professor
of English, served as a respondent
to scholarly paper, 'The Souls of
Black Folk: Black Male College
Students and Their Responses to
One of Du Bois’s Major Works”
presented by sophomores
