ST. VINCENT’S ACADEMY
Honors, Scholarships Told
Gold honor cords were worn by
fifteen seniors who had achieved an
honors’ average for four years of high
school in Commencement Exercises last
week for the Class of 1974 of Saint
Vincent’s Academy. Bishop Raymond
W. Lessard, Bishop of Savannah,
presided and spoke at the graduation of
sixty-four seniors in the Cathedral of St.
John the Baptist.
The honor students for four years
are: Angela Beytagh, Susan Bunbury,
Catherine Chandler, Terry Ferraro,
Patricia Finnegan, Hartina Flournoy,
Michelle Gillikin, Martha Guild, Kay
Me Dade, Rita Meredith, Kim Osbourne,
Marchanita Robinson, Josephine Von
Waldner, Teresa Weston, and Reba
Williams.
Scholarships awarded to nine of the
graduates were announced:
The National Maritime Union and
Georgetown University have awarded
full scholarships to National
Achievement Finalist, Hartina
Flournoy.
Howard University and Cornell
University have awarded full
scholarships to Teresa Weston.
Mercer University has awarded a
partial scholarship and status of Honors’
scholar to Patricia Finnegan.
Georgia Tech has awarded a partial
scholarship to Martha Guild.
Mississippi State University, the
University of Dallas and Spring Hill
College have awarded partial
scholarships to Valedictorian, Terry
Ferraro.
St. Mary’s University of San Antonio
and Berry College have awarded partial
scholarships to Valedictorian, Josephine
Von Waldner.
Breneau College has awarded a partial
scholarship to Diane Smith.
Spring Hill College has awarded a
partial scholarship to Karen Powers.
Shorter College has awarded a partial
scholarship to Alicia Gallagher.

Honor
Students
Father Robert Mattingly, Principal of
Pacelli High School, Columbus, has
named 14 students to First Honors
(5.00 or better) for the second semester
of the 1973-74 year, and 43 students to
Second Honors (4.16 to 4.99).

named co-valedictotians of the Class of 1974 of St. Vincent’s Academy
for having attained the highest academic average for the four years of high
school.

FORTY-FIVE BOYS AND TWENTY-EIGHT
GIRLS were graduated from eighth grade at St. James’,
Savannah, on May 27th. Father Dan O’Connell, Father
John Cuddy, pastor, and Father Liam Collins are
pictured, left to right, in center of picture. The three
priests officiated at the commencement ceremony.
Sister Mary of the Angels, I.H.M., principal, is pictured
at left and Mrs. Jane Scott and Sister William Miriam,
I.H.M., eighth grade teachers are at right.
