Polarized Catholics” Test
CINCINNATI (NC) - The St.
Anthony Messenger magazine this
month offers “polarized Catholics” a
test by which they can determine how
far “right” or “left” they are and, if
they are lucky, whether their sense of
humor is still operating.
Vatican II
A. The beginning.
B. The beginning of the end.
Put together by Bob Brueggemeyer,
advertising manager of the Catholic
Telegraph, the Cincinnati archdiocesan
weekly, the test offers a list of activities
and institutions with the invitation to
cirlce one of two descriptions (A or B).
Giving Witness
A. Burning draft files.
B. Burning draft dodgers.
Kiss of Peace
A. See how we love one another.
B. Germ-spreading, hypocritical farce.
Whether the test-taker circles A or B
determines whether he or she is
“liberal” or “conservative.” But the
kicker is that Brueggemeyer doesn’t say
which is which; the test-taker has to
figure that out.
Christian Education
A. Baltimore catechism.
B. Anything that takes place in a
certain building.
Parish unity
A. Situation whereby one man makes
all the decisions. (Unity means one,
doesn’t it?)
B. Democracy in action.
Here are some samples of the test:
