St. James Begins
Rite Of Christian
Initiation Of Adults
Saint James Church, Savannah, begins its plan for the
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) through a
series of programs designed to provide an appropriate
spiritual evangelization according to each person’s needs.
During this time the basic gospel is proclaimed and
nquirers are able to reflect on their own lives in light of
the message of Christianity. It is also a time for questions,
finding out more about the church and the value of faith.
Three programs will highlight the fall schedule and
period of Evangelization to include:
‘ ‘What the Catholic Church offers in Regard to
Understanding Jesus Christ” on November 8 and
November 14 at 7:30 p.m.
“The Catholic Church: Up Close and Personal”
Gatherings to be held in parishioner’s homes to provide
oarticipants with an opportunity to ask questions and
share something about themselves. Dates for these sessions
will be announced later.
“How We Worship and Where” An explanation of the
mass and tour of the church will be held on November 27,
and November 29.
These programs are also for those who already believe
in the Gospel of Jesus Christ as they are a time for hearing
the message afresh and moving to a deeper conversion of
mind and heart.

Raskob Foundation and the CCC, a USCC program, have

foundations are considering an additional $150,000 in
funding.
The grant program is directed specifically to “needy”
dioceses, which may request up to $25,000 in funds, on a
matching basis, to cover CTNA-related capital costs.
CTNA is the satellite telecommunications network
sponsored by the U.S. bishops.
The first nine dioceses funded, together with the
amounts granted, are as follows:
Buffalo $25,000; Charleston $17,869; Erie $25,000;
Miami $25,000; Mobile $21,281; Raleigh $25,000; San
Antonio $12,000; Seattle $25,000; Tucson $15,000.
“In initiating this project,” Msgr. Hoye said, “it is the
intention of FADICA and the CCC to assist as many
dioceses as possible to capitalize on the potential CTNA
offers .. .FADICA and the CCC envision that the
$600,000 they have set aside will make it possible for
some 40 new dioceses to become active in CTNA. This
will allow the network to considerably expand its
programming in telecommunications services at a cost
within the reach of all the affiliated dioceses. ”
To date some 40 dioceses have requested application
forms for this funding activity. Completed applications
will continue to be accepted through December, 1985, or
until the funds set aside by FADICA and the CCC are
exhausted.
