School Mass At Brunswick
Saint Francis Xavier School in
Brunswick celebrated the opening of
school with a Mass on Friday, August 30.
Under the direction of Mrs. Marge
Kelso, a liturgy committee composed of
two members from grades-Fourth thru
Eighth planned the Mass.
The theme for the school year, “The
Rainbow Connection” chosen by Sr.
Rebecca Campbell, Principal, was carried
throughout the Mass. Father Joseph
McLaughlin gave the Homily; Father
Frenoy was the Celebrant assisted by
Father Costello and Father Paul Hachey.
Father Douglas Clark
Fr. Clark To Speak Oct. 5 At St. Simons
Fr. Douglas Clark, S.T.L., Diocesan
Director of Adult Education, will be the
speaker at an Afternoon of Praise ’n’
Teaching on Saturday, October 5 on St.
Simons Island. The title of Fr. Clark’s
teaching is “Do This in Remembrance of
Me: an Understanding of the Mass from
the Perspectives of Scripture and Jewish
Traditions.”
The subject is one of Fr. Clark’s
specialties. He is a lively and entertaining
teacher, but—more important—the infor
mation and understanding he imparts
equip Catholics with an adult appreciation
of the central liturgy of our faith, the Mass.
The Afternoon of Praise ’n’ Teaching
will begin at 1:00 with a time to praise God
in song and prayer. Fr. Clark’s talk will
begin at 2 p.m. followed by a time of
fellowship and an opportunity to talk with
Fr. Clark. Refreshments will be served.
The talk will be given in the Parish Hall
of St. William’s Church, 2300 Frederica
Rd. This event is hosted by New Life
Newcomers to Augusta’s St. Mary’s on-
the-Hill parish will be officially welcomed
to the church community at a Buffet Din
ner in the Parish Hall on Sunday evening
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, in
Port Wentworth will sponsor its annual
boiled Shrimp Dinner on Saturday,
September 28th, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Prayer Community, a charismatic prayer
community of St. Francis Xavier
(Brunswick) and St. William’s (St. Simons
Island) parishes.
All are invited.
September 22 at 7 p.m. All parishioners
who have become members since
February are most welcome.
Price - $3.25. Take-outs are available.
Various activities will be available for all
ages.
