Living Rosary
Knights of Columbus Council #631,
will celebrate a Living Rosary on
Monday, May 24, at the Grotto of
Saint Mary’s Home, Savannah, at
7:30 p.m. The Glorious Mysteries will
be celebrated at this gathering. All
knights, their ladies and other interest
ed parties are invited to participate.
Fish Fry Fund Raiser
Saint Mary’s Knights of Columbus
Council # 1058, will hold a Fish Fry
on Friday, May 28, at Our Lady Star
of the Sea Church (106 E. Dillng-
ham), Saint Mary’s. The menu is fish
fillets, hush puppies, coleslaw,
dessert, and a beverage. Take out
orders start at 5:00 p.m. with sit down
dinners from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Advance
tickets are $5.00, $2.50 for 6 and
under, and free for under 3. Buy your
tickets early from Hampton Jenkins
(912-673-6311), Ray A. Meaux (912-
882-2343), or Mike Wasuck (912-
882-6581). Tickets at the door will be
$6.00. The proceeds will support local
projects of the Saint Mary’s Knights
of Columbus.
Memorial Day Mass
The annual Memorial Day Mass
Mass for the nation’s war dead will be
celebrated at the rostrum of the
Andersonville National Historic Site
at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 31.
Fourth degree Knights of Columbus
will serve as the Honor Guard for this
Mass honoring those who have made
untold sacrifices for our country and
freedom. The principal celebrant will
be Monsignor Marvin J. LeFrois of
Valdosta. The homilist will be Father
Brett A. Brannen, pastor of Holy Spir
it Church, Macon. All K. of C. assem
blies are encouraged to participate in
the Honor Guard and to attend this
Mass, to which the public is invited.
In the event of inclement weather,
Mass will be celebrated at Saint
Mary’s Church, Americus.

Annual Bible Institute
Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat,
Holy Trinity, Alabama is holding its
Annual Bible Institute on June 11-13.
This year’s topic is “Exploring the
Michael Parham and Valerie Shearouse, Cathedral of Saint John the
Baptist, Savannah, May 15, 1999.
The Rev. Billie Kirkland Hillis
T he Rev. Billie Kirkland Hillis, 67, died May 16 at her home in Girard,
Georgia, after a long illness. She owned Cherokee Communications, the
company that handled the circulation of The Southern Cross for many years,
and was a minister in the Christian Church. She is survived by her husband,
Roy, two sons, Stan and Mark, and a daughter, Cindi.

attention will be given to texts which
present God as Father and depict life in
the Kingdom of God which the Father

Nagle, S.S.D., chair of the Scripture
department at Saint Charles Borromeo
Seminary, Philadelphia. The program
begins with registration at 7:00 p.m.
(Eastern Time) on Friday and con
cludes with dinner at noon on Sunday.

Vocation Retreats
The Diocesan Vocation Office is
sponsoring a 3-day combination
sports camp-discernment retreat for
students in grades 6-9. The retreat will
be held in Savannah from June 20-23
(boys) and June 23-26 (girls). If you
are a single man, (at least a junior in
high school), and open to a vocation to
the priesthood, you are invited to a
special discernment retreat from June
18-20, called Vocatio Dei. The retreat
will be held at Saint John’s Center in
Savannah, and there is no cost.
