Christmas Gifts for
Saint Vincent de Paul
Health Center
Saint Mary on the Hill Youth are
wrapping up Christmas while benefit
ing needy families and individuals.
On November 27 and December 18
from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. on both
days, youths will wrap Christmas
purchases at Zany Brainy Toy and
Bookstore, located next to Logan’s
Steakhouse in the Target shopping
complex. All donations for the gift
wrap will benefit Saint Vincent de
Paul Health Center. The center pro
vides health care to people who have
no income, low income, and have no
health insurance. Many are homeless
and / or live in unstable situations.
Operation Andrew
Operation Andrew, a dinner with
Bishop J. Kevin Boland and the
priests of the Savannah deanery will
be held at 7:00 p.m on November 30
at Saint James Parish, Savannah. The
dinner is open to all single men high
school-age and older who are interest
ed in discerning their vocation.

Priests for Life
The Chattahoochee Valley United
for Life has invited Father Richard M.
Hogan from Priests for Life to speak
in Columbus. Father Hogan is the
Associate Director for Priests for
Life. Father Hogan will give two talks
to the public in the Visitation Hall of
Saint Anne Church on December 3 at
6:30 p.m. The talks will continue the
next morning, December 4, at 9:00
a.m. in the same location.

Charismatic Retreat
Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat,
Holy Trinity, Alabama, is offering
a Charismatic Retreat on the week
end of December 3-5. The retreat
director is Father Eugene Pathe,
Liaison to the Charismatic Renewal
in the Pensacola-Tallahassee Diocese.
Registration is at 7:00 p.m (ESI)
and concludes on Sunday with din

Oyster Roast
Knights of Columbus Council
5588 will hold an all-you-can-eat
Oyster Roast Saturday, December 4,
12 noon-5:00 p.m. at Christopher
Drive at Waters Avenue. Hambur
gers, hot dogs and chili will be avail
able. As always, any funds raised at
this event will go towards the coun
cil’s charitable activities.
God’s Special Children
The Knights of Columbus will be at
the intersections of the Savannah area
December 10-11, collecting funds for
mentally retarded and handicapped
persons. Support the Knights’ efforts
by contributing to this cause and you
will be helping the needs of God’s
special children in the community.
An Intensive Centering
Prayer Retreat
The Benedictine Spirituality and
Conference Center at Cullman, Ala
bama, will sponsor an Intensive Cen
tering Prayer Retreat December
10-12. The directors will be Sister
Priscilla Cohen, OSB, Sister Eileen
Gallagher, MSBT, and Diana Tscha-

Vocation Discernment
Retreat
The Diocese of Savannah Vocation
office is sponsoring a discernment
retreat for single adult men (mini
mum age: junior in high school)
January 6-9, 2000, at Camp John
Hope in Fort Valley. The retreat mas
ter is Father Donald McGuire, S.J.
The retreat is based on the Spiritual
Exercises of Saint Ignatius Loyola,
and is designed for any man who
wishes to grow in holiness and to dis
cern God’s will for his life.

Search Weekend
A Search Weekend will be held on
the beach at Epworth by the Sea
Retreat Center, Saint Simons Island,
on January 14-16, 2000. Search is
an intense retreat weekend directed
by a trained teenage team, priests,
youth directors and religious. It is
directed towards high school seniors
and juniors. The retreat is geared to
address the spiritual needs of young
Catholic adults with the hope that
through it they might come to devel
op a deeper personal relationship
with Christ and other young
Catholics in the Savannah diocese.
Cost of the weekend is $50.00 per
person.
