The Mass was celebrated by Bishop J. Kevin Boland with Fathers John Cuddy and Timothy McKeown concelebrating. The music was pro vided by the Saint Joseph’s Choir with Nelda M. Chapman, organist and choirmaster. Laura Bialon was the cantor. The readings were pro claimed by Donald Coates and Vicki McLung, who were celebrating their 25th anniversaries this year. The gifts were brought up by Gayle and Nor ma Shearer, celebrating their 50th anniversary, and by Campbell and Barbara King, celebrating their 25th. Bishop Boland, in his homily, con trasted the faithfulness of the couples present with the tendency in today's society to take the easy road and avoid long-term commitment. “I am sure that none of you here today would say that the last 25 or 50 years has been totally happy without any problems,” he said, adding that per severance leads to true contentment. A reception, prepared by the Social Committee of Saint Joseph’s, fol lowed in the church hall. At the reception, pictures were taken individ ually of each couple with the bishop. Twenty-nine couples celebiating their Golden Wedding Anniversaries and 40 couples celebrating their Silver Jubilees attended. They came from six of the seven deaneries in the Diocese of Savannah.
