Kevin Boland will cele brate a memorial Mass for Sister Mary Frances Sobczak, CDP, former Superintendent of Schools, at noon, April 8, in Our Lady’s Chapel in the Undercroft of the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, Savannah. A recep tion will follow at Notre Dame Academy immediately after Mass. Pancake Dinner Junior Girl Scout Troop # 542, sponsored by Blessed Sacrament Church, will hold a pancake dinner on April 9 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Cafeteria at Waters Avenue and Victory Drive, Savannah. This fundraising effort will help earn money for the girls to visit historic Williamsburg. Cost is $3.00 per per son, with ages 3 and under free. “His Love for Us” Saint Frances Cabrini Youth Minis try will host a special evening to recall “His Love For Us.” All are invited. There will be refreshments, music and a chance to be inspired during Lent. It will be held in the parish hall at Saint Frances Church, 11500 Middleground Road, Savannah, on April 9 at 4:30 p.m. Proceeds from donations will help defray costs for medical expenses for a parishioner. Cathedral Mission A parish mission will be held at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist April 10-14 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Father Peter Flannery, CSsR, will conduct the mission. Father Flannery will be available for confessions each evening after the mission; a reconcili ation service will be held on April 12. All are invited. Church History Seminar Father Michael J. McNally, Pro fessor of Church History at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Phila delphia, Pennsylvania, will present a series of lectures April 14-15 in Visitation Hall at Saint Anne Church, Columbus, on the history of the Catholic Church in Columbus and in the Diocese of Savannah. These lec tures are open to the public. On Friday evening, from 7:00-8:30, Father McNally will present “The History of U.S. Catholicism: A Visu al Overview.” On Saturday morning, from 9:00-10:00, he will present a one-hour lecture entitled “Catho licism in Columbus: The Nineteenth Century,” followed by a second talk at 10:30, entitled “Catholicism in Father Michael J. McNally Columbus: The Twentieth Century.” SVA Alumnae Mass Saint Vincent’s Academy’s Alum nae Mass and Dinner will be held on April 15. Mass will celebrated in Our Lady’s Chapel at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist at 5:30 p.m. A social and dinner will follow in Walsh Hall at 6:30. Cost is $12.00.
