Thursday, September 7, 2000 The Southern Cross, Page 7 Notre Dame Academy, Savannah, begins last year at current site Notre Dame Academy offers a strong academic program. The curriculum includes: religion, language arts, mathematics, sci ence, social studies, computer instruction, music, art and physical education. The religion program includes the offering of sacramental programs and the teachings of the Catholic Church and participation in Eucharistic liturgies, Reconciliation Services, and other liturgical services. Notre Dame Academy is presently located in the historic district next to the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist. This past March the Catholic Diocese of Savannah announced its intentions to renovate the old Benedictine school site at 1707 Bull Street. Notre Dame Academy will be moving into the renovated building for the 2001 - 2002 school year. The move will allow for the continued growth of Notre Dame Academy up to an enrollment of 350 stu dents. Our Lady of Lourdes School, Columbus, celebrates 40 years On August 25, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School Co lumbus, celebrated the 40th anniversary of its founding. The anniversary celebration began with Mass concelebrat- ed by priests from all of the local parishes, and several former pastors of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The guests of honor at the celebration were three Ursuline nuns who were the last sisters to teach at the school. The liturgy was followed by a reception in the school hall.
