The Southern Cross, Page 10 Mass of Anointing Saint James Church, Savannah, will celebrate its 11th annual Mass of Anointing on October 14 at 11:00 a.m. Six priests from the Savannah deanery will concelebrate the Mass and anoint those who are ill. A reception with light refreshments will follow. Saint James Church is located at Montgomery Cross Road and Whitfield Avenue on Savannah’s Southside. Saint Benedict the Moor Fall Festival The Fall Festival at Saint Benedict the Moor Church is set for Saturday, October 21, from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.in the rectory / school yard at 556 East Gordon Street, Savannah. There will be rides for the children, food booths, a country store, bake sale, games and lots of fun. All are welcome. Father Mitchell Pacwa, S.J. to Speak The Alleluia Catholic Fellowship, Augusta, will sponsor a day-long reflec tion on Saint Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians, “Praising God and Community Life,” by Father Mitchell Pacwa, S.J., on October 21 at Saint Joseph Church on Lumpkin Road. The day will begin with 8:00 Mass followed by a continen tal breakfast. The day will conclude at approximately 3:00. Savannah 2000 retreat The challenging message of Pope John Paul II, calling all young people to bear witness to the faith, is being spread through a special retreat sponsored by the Diocese of Savannah Vocation Office, called Savannah 2000. This Eucharistic retreat is a response to this call to prepare young people to live and proclaim the Gospel of Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life. On November 17-19, all young people, ages 13-30, are invited to attend the Savannah 2000 Retreat in Augusta at Saint Teresa of Avila Church. The retreat Friday night is from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The fee is $20, which includes lunch and dinner on Saturday.
