Holy Family Church
WlLLACOOCHEE JUBILEE CELEBRATION
Holy Family Church, near Willacoochee, will hold a Jubilee Celebration for
its 130th anniversary on November 5. A Jubilee Mass will be celebrated at
11:00 a.m. followed by a covered dish dinner in the social hall. The history of
the church will be presented and sentimental and historical memorabilia will be
available for viewing. This rural church, located between Highways 82 and 135
on County Road 42, was dismantled and moved piece by piece on horse and
wagon from Willacoochee and rebuilt in its present location in the McGovern
settlement in 1914. Many founding fathers and their families are buried in the
quiet, peaceful cemetery adjacent to the church. Their descendants are encour
aged to “come home” and enjoy the celebration of Mass and the love and fel
lowship still present at Holy Family. Preceding the Homecoming and Jubilee
Mass, a Mission will be preached at Holy Family from November 2-4. A visit
ing priest will celebrate Mass each night beginning at 7:00 p.m.
