Saint Frances Cabrini
parishioners “stand for life”
Joining several churches on October I, Saint Frances
Cabrini Parish, Savannah, had over 120 parishioners who
“Stood For Life” in an hour of silent prayer for the
unborn. The entire chain of prayer stretched from
Oglethorpe Mall to Savannah Mall. The parish was repre
sented by people from 6 to 80 years of age.
The religious educators of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish,
Port Wentworth, were honored on Catechetical Sunday,
September 17. They are pictured with Sister Georgette
Cunniff, MFIC, parish director of religious education (top
row, center), and Father Michael J. Kavanaugh, pastor (top
row, right).

endar with Savannah bishops’ pho
tos, an “Open Wide the Doors to
Christ” poster, brochures with
Jubilee prayer services, lapel pins,
labels for candles, tee shirts, caps
and other memorabilia. A contest
was held to design a logo for the
Sesquicentennial and Jubilee Year
which is being used throughout the
celebrations; it incorporated the
Ambrose Agency, Inc.

“Open Wide the Doors to Christ”
theme. David Stagnitto, a member of
Saint Frances Cabrini Parish and
program manager for WSAV-TV in
Savannah, submitted the winning
design.
Craig Harney, operations manager
for WTOC-TV, volunteered his tal
ents to develop Jubilee TV and radio
public service announcements for
the multimedia campaign. Father
Douglas K. Clark designed the
“Open Wide the Doors to Christ”
poster and the prayer service
brochure. Mrs. King and Ms.
Pinckney collaborated on the memo
rabilia and Mrs. King coordinated
the campaign. ^
Also during the Unda assembly, at
its Gabriel Awards ceremony,
Gabriels were given in two chil
dren’s categories that were judged
by a panel of Savannah communica
tions professionals. The jury met in
June and the awards were given out
in September.
The Savannah jury nominated
“Nashe Maalo (Our Neighborhood):
Dime’s Party” by Common Ground
Productions in Macedonia, and “The
Four Little Bears” by KCNC-TV in
Denver, Colorado for Gabriel
Awards.
Jury members were Craig Harney
of WTOC-TV; David Stagnitto of
WSAV-TV; Avis Coleman, host for
SCAD-TV; Amy Cheville, promo
tions manager for WTOC-TV;
Maggie Smith, executive director of
Maggie’s Morning School; and
Deborah Gallagher, and Michael
Kienzle, both producers/directors for
Comcast.
The Gabriel Awards recognize out
standing industry broadcasters who
uplift the human spirit by celebrat
ing universal human values.
