Father Michael j. Kavanaugh, pastor (left), looks on as Patrick Rodriguez enrolls as a candidate for first Communion, with help from his parents, Frank and Myra. According to Father Kavanaugh, this annual ceremony of enrollment encourages the community to pray for the children and their families during their time of preparation, and expresses the community’s concern and engages them, through prayer, in the ongoing preparation of the children. The candidates will experience the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time during Advent, and will receive Holy Communion for the first time in May.
