K. of C. Oyster Roast
Knights of Columbus Council 5588, Savannah, will hold its annual oyster
roast on December 2 from noon until 4:00 p.m., at the council home at Chris
topher Drive and Waters Avenue. The cost for “all you can eat” is $10.00. In
addition to the oysters, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage dogs, soft drinks and
adult beverages will be available.

All diocesan Natural Family Planning practitioners will be meeting at
Saint Matthew Church parish hall in Statesboro on December 12.

Light Up for Christ
Knights of Columbus Council # 63l’s Light Up for Christ ceremony will be
held at the council home at 3 W. Liberty Street, Savannah, on December 5 at
7:30 p.m. All are invited to this public affirmation that Jesus Christ is “the rea
son for the season.”
Cathedral Concert
The Savannah Arts Academy Chorus will perform a special concert in the
Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist on December 7 at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Peggy
Johnson will direct. The concert is free and open to the public.
K. of C. Drive
The Knights of all Councils in the Savannah area will be on the streets
soliciting funds for Citizens with Disabilities and Retarded Citizens (God’s
Special Children) on December 8-9. (This effort was formerly known as the
Tootsie Roll Drive). The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic charitable service
organization.
Candlelight Concert
Saint Vincent’s Chorus, under the direction of Bernadette Winters, will
present its annual Candlelight Concert in the Cathedral of Saint John the
Baptist, Savannah, on December 10 at 7:00 p.m. The concert is free and open
to the public.

Jubilee Year Closing Mass
The solemn closing Mass for the Jubilee Year 2000 will be celebrated on
January 7, 2001, the Feast of the Epiphany, at 3:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of
Saint John the Baptist in Savannah. This is a change in the time and location,
so please make special note. All Catholics of the Savannah Deanery are invit
ed and encouraged to attend this special liturgy which will mark the end of
this great Jubilee Year of grace.
Catholic Engaged Encounter
The 2001 Catholic Engaged Encounter Weekend schedule is as follows:
Spring weekends will be held on February 9-11 and April 27-29 at Norman
Park, and will cost $195.00 per couple. Fall weekends, scheduled for Sep
tember 14-16 and November 9-11, will be held at Camp John Hope, Fort
Valley, and will cost $145.00 per couple. Registration forms are available at all
parishes in the diocese. Space on a weekend is limited, so early registration for
your choice of weekends is encouraged.

Christopher Walker Workshop
The Savannah Chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians
(NPM) is sponsoring a two-day workshop with featured speaker Christopher
Walker, at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Wilmington Island,
Chatham County. Youth and adults alike will experience ideas and methods for
liturgy planning. Mark your calendars for Friday and Saturday, February 23-
24, 2001, and watch for further notices.
