The Sacrament is reserved to provide Communion for the sick and shut-in, and for adoration by the faithful. The Altar of Reservation, within which the tabernacle is housed, was given by the bishops and priests of the United States in response to Bishop Becker’s plea for funds after the fire of 1898. The inscription at the base of the altar reads: “From his priests to the great high priest.” abernacl Inal * * ruci athedra Pulpit Confessional Font I I New pulpit Crafted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the confessional fea tures detailed carvings from Orteisi, Italy. Within the three glass panels are a barren desert (representing sin, above), the Prodigal Son (a symbol of forgiveness), and the tree of forgiveness (new life). A new pulpit has been fashioned in Pittsburgh, with carv ings of the four Evangelists from Orteisi, Italy. New Confessional
