Divorced/Separated/Widowed Retreat at
A special retreat for the divorced, separated and widowed will be held Palm
Sunday weekend at the New Ebenezer Retreat Center in Effingham
County. Bishop J. Kevin Boland will present the opening conference on
Friday evening. The other retreat directors are Father Ron Gatman, OSB, and
Father Albert Bickerstaff, OSB, from the Benedictine community in Savannah.
Father Jeremiah McCarthy and Ms. Cathy Gilligan from the Diocesan Tribunal
will be available to discuss the annulment process. Other presenters will offer
reflections on bereavement, healing and the spiritual journey to wholeness.
The lovely atmosphere of the Ebenezer Center in Springfield provides beau
tiful space for nature walks and peaceful contemplation. Rooms are double
with private baths.
This is a wonderful opportunity to begin Holy Week with a special focus on
the passion, death and resurrection of the Lord who always invites us to new
life. By “praying our good-byes” we can let go of the past hurts and move into
the blessings of the present.
The retreat begins Friday evening with registration starting at 5:30 p.m. The
first conference is at 8:00p.m. The retreat ends with the closing liturgy and
lunch on Sunday. The registration fee is $75 and financial aid is available.
Contact the Office of Family Life, 912-238-2320. Those who wish may use
