152 Wasdita Cos., Ark.., Brethren Editors : — By request you will give notice through the Messenger , of the death of GEORGIA ANN, and WILLIAM JESSE, daugh ter and son of Dr. J. A., and Elizabeth Livingston. At the residence of her father in Washita Cos., Ark., on the 9th of April, 18G0, little Georgia Ann de parted this life—her disease was Scarlet Fever of which she suffered about six days. Although so young, yet she bore testimony of her departure out of this world. Her body is now silent in the tomb— her voice never again to be heard in this time world, while her spirit is gone to the Paradise of God, there to remain until the resurrection morn. Then shall the sleeping dust be called forth to meet the Bride groom and ever be with the Lord. WILLIAM JESSE, was born Nov. 19, 1859, and died Aug. 8, 1860, aged 8 months and 20 days. They have now been called to give up their last child. Only those that have witnessed the scene, can know anything of their distress and bereavement. May they be made to kiss the rod, and say with one of old, “ The Lord giveth, and the Lord takech away, and blessed be Ilis holy nanie.” So fades the lovely blooming flower, Frail smiling solace of an hour, So soon our transient comforts fly, And pleasures only bloom to die. ELIJAH YARBROUGH. Rich Though Poor. No rood of land in all the earth, No ships upon the sea, Nor treasures rare, nor gems, nor gold, Do any keep for me: As yesterday I wrought for bread, So must I toil to-day ; Yet some are n<Jt so rich as I, Nor I so poor as they. On yonder tree the sun-light falls, The robin’s on the bough, Still I can hear a merrier note Than he is warbling now: He’s but an Arab of the sky, And never lingers long ; But that o’erruns the live-long year With music and with song. Come, gather round me, little ones, And as I set me down, With shouts of laughter on me place A mimic regal crown : Say, childless King, would I accept Your armies and domain, Or e’en your crown, and never feel These tiny hands again ? There’s more of honor in their touch And blessing unto me Than kingdom unto kingdom joined, Or navies on the sea: So greater gifts to me are brought Than Sheba’s Queen did bring To him, who at Jerusalem Was born to be a King. ” 1 S .
