liberal patronage extended to the

will appreciate it too, examine the
advertisements and trade with
our advertisers. They are all re¬

the editor now returns thanks to
the Ocean Steamship Company of
Savannah, to Capt. Dagget and
and the officers of the steamer
Chattahoochee, and to Mr. Rogers
agent of the Company in New

him on his recent voyage to New

known that preachers can go to
New York by sea and return for

is extremely low and the appoint¬

Points of Interest in Savannah.
Since Congress street has been paved with
asphalt it has become a splendid drive. In
fact, the best in the city, .... for its center is
not cut by ear tracks, and is graced on both

ably among the most conspicuous is

way to and from the hotels, railroads and
steamship lines, it is hardly possible that
strangers will miss the opportunity of hav-
a at one of the largest and most
completely arranged establishments of the
kind in the South.
EASY TERMS ON ENGINES.
The Ames Engine is one of the best en¬
gines sold. And the beauty of it is they are
so cheap. Don’t pay two prices for an en¬
gine or gin, but write to Mr. O. M. Stone,
Augusta, Ga., and get his prices and easy
terms. it
CONSUMING IRON.
The largest Foundry and Machine Shop
in Augusta ami one of the largest in the
South, is that of Messrs. Geo. It. Lombard A
Co. Hundreds of tons of iron and steel are
sent out from this immense shop fashioned
by an army of skilled workmen into fine
machinery. A personal business acquaint-
a nee with this house enables us to cheerfullv
commend it to all who need any kind of
cliinery. Their large and increasing busi¬
ness speaks volumes for them. They are
perfectly reliable. u
an immense stock.
Messrs. A. J. Miller A Co., of Savannah,
carry an immense stock of Furniture and
Carpets. Our editor lias seen it and knows
whereof he speaks. An inspection of their
stock will convince the people that they do
a heavy business. You will find out more
about it if you look tip their advertisement,
and more still if vou examine their stock of
goods. They sell cheap; of course they

THE EDITOR’S ( IIAII!.
Our editor sits on a revolving spring-back
chair, writes on a walnut desk, and throws
rejected articles into a large waste basket.
“Well, what of (hat?” you ask. Simply
this: The chair, desk and waste-basket were
purchased of Messrs. Mc-Gillis A Rustin, of
Savannah. Not satisfied with this, our edi¬
tor was so extravagant as to buy a very-
large nice rocking-chair for his wife. Where
did he buy it? At McGillis A Kostin's.
Just as soon as be gets a few more subscri¬
bers he expects to buy chairs enough for his
five children to sit on, and then that will he
a happy family. If Mess. McGillis A Rustin
could please everybody as well as they have
our editor, this would be a delighted coun¬
try. And they’ll do it if you buy your Fur¬
niture from them. This enterprising firm
lias pushed its trade in all directions, adver¬
tised liberally, sold cheap, treated all fairly
and is to-day one of the best-known and
most popular houses in Savannah. They
have a special mid-summer offer on stoves
and bedroom suits, and you will find the
prices by referring to their large, handsome
advertisement. Mr. J. S. Evans, of Screven
county, is now with the above house, and
will be pleased to see bis friends. They sell
at wholesale and retail, and give perfect
satisfaction. Be sure you find them. It
BUY THE RIGHT MEDICINE.
The day of teas, decoction, infusions and
such slops has passed and is being replaced
by fluid extracts. The latest United States
Dispensatory says in this connection:
“Both decoctions and infusions have now
become almost obsolete, and deservedly so.”
In view of the above advanced idea and
stubborn facts we beg to call attention to
tiie Prickly Ash, Poke Root and Potassium
Compound which lias gained such a noto¬
riety. and is undoubtedly the

Scrofula, Old Sores, Skin Diseases, Blood
Taints, etc., in the last six months, than all
the other Blood remedies on the market. It
is no humbug, no secret, hut a preparation
composed of the fluid extracts of Prickly
Ash, Poke Root, Queen’s Delight and Sar¬
saparilla, with the lorbde of Potassium add¬
ed. Physicians endorse il as a splendid
combination. It is a powerful tonic and
builds up the system rapidly. If you are
weak and feeble try a bottle. Take P. P. P.
and gain flesh and strength rapidly. It is
the best remedy for malarial poisons, and
will cure chills in every instance. As a tonic
and regulator for females who are in a low
state of health it has no equal. Try one
bottle and be convinced. II
ROLLING ON.
On a recent visit to Augusta, Ga., our So-
licitor entered the immense establishment
of Mess. Goodyear A Co., dealers in Bug¬
gies, Carriages, Wagons, and all kinds of
Leather goods, and solicited an advertise¬
ment for the Reporter. The very clever
proprietor, Mr, Goodyear, did not say “7
can't.'" and "Hard limes'." Not a bit of
it. He promptly ordered us to put in eight
squares as a starter. This made the said
Solicitor feel like lie was in the presence of
a wide-awake business man that knew the
value of printer’s ink. Tliisold and reliable
house carries a heavy stock of Hardware
all the time, and does a large wholesale and
retail trade. Their Factory is right in Au¬
gusta, and this gives them the advantage
over competition from abroad. Don’t rend
to the North or West for a buggy, carriage
or wagon when you can get as good or bet¬
ter near home for less money. Their very
handsome advertisement in this paper
speaks for itself. Call on them or write to
them. It
