The annual athletic banquet
was held at the college dining
hall on Tuesday evening, May
5. All basketball, tennis, base
ball, golf and cheerleaders of
1963-64 were honored.
Mr. James Sharman, Director
of Athletics, Howard College,
Birmingham, Alabama deliver
ed the main address.
Mr. Sharman’s address, en
titled “And Then Some,” em
phasized the need for extra
effort in one’s every endeavor.
“The strength of the American
society lies in those people
who give of their all above and
beyond the call of duty.” Mr.
Sharman’s illustrations of extra
effort were well selected.
The administration of the
college were thanked for their
support as well as the boosters
of the athletic program.
The coaches received gifts
from the teams.
Mr. Yerlon McKinney, Presi
dent of the Hawkinsville Lions
Club, presented the Jack Aber
nathy award to this year’s win-
ser, Skip Heath.
MGC On The Move
A stack of lumber, turned
earth, workmen — progress
evidenced that MGC is moving
to bigger and better things—
A thought along the way is
the fact we have buildings
that do not have names other
than their functional names.
Perhaps, the new year will
give us a name for the new
gym and women’s dorm.
