TOUCH DOWN!
Intramural football has
started at Middle Georgia Col
lege. Three games areplayed
every Tuesday, Wednesday,
and Thursday at 4:30. The
first games were played
Tuesday, October 14. The
games are played North and
East of the new baseball-field.
Coach Jones is in charge of
the intramural program this
year. He has several students
helping and the baseball play
ers serve as referees. The
games are played by regular
N.C.A.A, football rules with
one major exception. Instead
of making a tackle to stop a
players progress, intramural
players must pull off one of
the oppositions two tags.
Regular games will be
played for the next six weeks
with play-offs to be announced.

A REAL STEAL
This year, ten sophomore
lettermsn will return from the
1969 team which finished with
a 31 - 8 record. It won its
third consecutive South Ga.
Conference Championship in
1969. Five of these re
turning sophomores were All-
Conference players. The team
also includes elevenfreshmen
and two transfer students who
have all looked real good.
Coach Roy Umstattd’s 1970
edition of the Warriors have
been holding fall practice for
three weeks now in prepara
tion for the 1970 baseball
season. Coach Umstattd has
been real impressed by the
hustle and determination of the
team as a whole and believes
the 1970 edition, on paper, is
his best ever,

Seven new cheerleaders
were selected from among
thirty-nine candidates, Oct.
9th. The seven will join the
three returnees from last
year’s squad. Those re
turning are Debbie Hodges of
Jackson, Iris Weeks of Wad-
ley, and Cynthia Smith of
Cochran. New cheerleaders
are Sheila Bates of Coving
ton, Michelle Cadwell of Mc-
rae, Amy English ofHawkins-
ville, DebbieFredrichofWar
ner Robins, Deborah Sawyer
of Cochran, and alternates,
Terrie Hamby of Warner Ro
bins and Gail Mullis of Haw-
kinsville.
Those that tried out were
given three practices to learn
the cheer. Selection was made
by a panel of judges on voice,
jump, execution of cheer, co
ordination, and appearance.

Coach Rogers picks DeKalb,
ABAC, Brewton Parker, and
South Georgia to be the tough -
est teams on the schedule this
year. South Georgia won the
state championship last year
and has three of five starters
returning.
“We have a chance to be a
very respectable club this
year,” says Coach Rogers,
“we will depend a lot on
freshmea If we continue
to work like we have during
the past weeks, we will have
a fine club. All players have
shown they can play.”

The first meeting of the
Middle Georgia Golf team was
held on Monday, Oct. 6. At
present the golf team has 25
members and Coach Aldridge
feels that they will be much
better this year.
Coach Aldridge says that the
golf team plans to play in the
Middle Georgia Invitational
Golf Tournament this year.
The tournament consists of
several South and Middle
Georgia teams.
