Basketeers Open Season Here December 25th
Franz Polgar, Mental Marvel, Will
Present Program Here January 5th
An evening of extraordinary entertainment is in store for Savannahians
when Dr. Franz J. Polgar, internationally famous mental telepathist and
psychic personality, demonstrates his powers at the Jewish Educational
Alliance Sunday night, January 5th. This will be the second feature of the
Alliance 1946-47 Cultural Series.
Dr. Polgar has appeared on in¬
numerable programs on both sides
of the Atlantic and has been ac¬
claimed in the American press for
his uncanny mental marvels. His
photographic mind has amazed not
only the laymen but scientists, art¬
ists and educators as well.
Using volunteer subjects from his
audiences, Dr. Polgar has accomp
J^ihed feats bordering on the* super¬
natural as he calmly, and without
obvious effort, exposes their thoughts
through the powers of transference.
Polgar combines his outstanding
showmanship with his ability as an
educator to produce a program of in¬
structive entertaiment. An expert
showman, he holds his audience in
a fever of suspense and then plun¬
ges them into howls of laughter with
his quick wit and unexpected pranks.

Longwater's Golden Tornadoes Take
On Strong Charleston Jewish Center
William “Mutsie Longwater will make his debut as coach
of the Alliance Varsity basketball team when he sends his
Golden Tornado charges against a strong Charleston Jewish
Center team on Wednesday evening, December 25th, on the
Alliance floor, at 8:30 P. M. The Alliance will try to uphold
their record of never being defeated
in an opening game. However, Coach
Longwater is prepared for the bat¬
tle of battles as reports from Char¬
leston say that the “over-home” boys
have a strong aggregation this sea¬
son.
Charleston will be led into bat¬
tle by two rangy lads known as the
Seymour boys, Barkowitz and Rud
ich by name. These two are rated
to be the highest scoring forwards
in the Charleston City League along
with Freddie Bernstein, a star guard.
These three men are returning ser¬
vicemen who did not see action
against the Alliance last year and
yet, without them, Charleston de¬
feated the locals in the Carolina
city while losing a second contest
in Savannah by one point in an
over-time period.
The Alliance is bolstered by the
return of two high-scoring forwards
and two newcomers into the fold.
Bernie Kramer, said by many to be
the best player to don a Tornado
uniform, will be one of the starting
forward positions while Abie Palef
sky, a left-handed hook-shot artist,
will be his running mate at the other
forward position. Lester Gretenstein,
